Canada bans foreigners from buying houses for two years :coffee: Imagine if this happened in Poland, we would be blasted as xenophobes & racists but I doubt anyone uses the same comments for Trudeau's family empire :mumble:

With exceptions for, among others, long-term students and people who work there. Basically, the people who can't are tourists or people looking for some vacation home, and investors who do nothing but drive up the prices infinitely.

What stops those foreign investors from using straw men with Canadian citizenship to buy homes that way? :mumble:

Leftists believe that passing a law will stop all the bad things from happening.  It’s the same principle that stops criminals buying guns, or the Chinese from building coal-fired power stations.

In films & on TV, arsonists start fires by splashing lots of petrol around in a confined space.  This is not how it works in real life.

Suspected arsonists set Bakersfield business, and themselves, on fire

I hope this is a joke? Obviously this is an absolutely logical decision by the canadian officials. If a large part of the native population of a country has no hope of ever owning land/property, then those people don't really have any reason to work hard. Allowing millions of rich asian foreigners to buy up land/property as an investment (often without ever living there), while a large part of the native population can't afford land/property is completely braindead.

Edit: I tried to look into what canadian people think about this and my first impression is that many are in favor of making it more difficult/impossible for foreign people to buy property, but:

1) There are exceptions in this new law that will still make it rather easy for foreign people to buy property.

2) The bigger problem seems to be that (canadian) investors are buying up properties.

Apparently many countries in the west are facing the same problems. The companies claim that there is a shortage of skilled workers, so the government feels the need to create a huge influx of "skilled" workers (while not creating remotely enough new housing and not banning investors from buying up all the existing properties) which then forces the local population to work for low wages while not being able to afford property. In the end the wealthiest people, the biggest corporations and the politicians that are in their pockets benefit and the rest of the population is fucked. At the same time media (controlled by politics and the wealthiest individuals) portrays anyone who mentions those things as racist/enemy of democracy, so people are afraid to speak up.

Hopefully soon we will get a law that will make it illegal to live unless you earn at least 10k/month.

6-year old boy intentionally shot his teacher but she survived. USA is truly a progressive country like no other. And they are still afraid to stike down the 2nd Amendment from 18th century

in North Korea human feces are already massively used as fertilizers right now, because the Country doesn't have the industrial/chemical ones following UN sanctions.

and actually, they were/are used also in many other places where poverty is at the highest level.

not here to explain the whole drama, but you can easily find in the net what the human feces used as fertilizer do to human body.

just search for health conditions of people defecting from North Korea.

And in fact, this story comes around frequently.

Dear @Sindoand the members who actually maybe care about me a little bit

I will leave Totallympics in a couple of months. I will still be online and read what happens but I will not post anything.

This site has lost it a little bit with its jokes about me and Sweden Handball Team.

Will therefore step down and maybe it’s feels better later on

 Thank you all

    • For anyone who was involved with buying tickets for Paris 2024, can anyone comment on how LA28's process seems similar or different?  I'm hoping to get tickets so my family and I can go, and I've already found events we'd like to go to (def. won't be medal matches, as I know those will be out of our price range).   Seems like Paris had some sort of 'package' deal you had to do, but I haven't seen anything like that for LA28.   Also, re: the draw system, was it the case that whenever your time slot became available, you had access to any session?  Or were only certain sessions available?  (And, if so, were different sessions available in a later ticket drop?)   Is it the case that preliminary sessions sell out more quickly than medal sessions?  Or vice-versa?   (To anyone interested in going: AirBnBs are able to be reserved up to two years ahead of time, so starting July-August, you should be able to make reservations.)
