So apparently Pakistan is reopening it's border with infection zone Iran and resuming flights to infection zone China. That sounds like a move made by someone who's IQ is lower than the temperature in Pakistani winters

actually I think that was the right decision. first Pakistan has no "real control" over its borders, if someone really wants to cross the border he does. better let people do it legally and at least monitor them to see if they are infected or not.

beside that, I'm quite sure almost nobody from Iran travels to Pakistan, it's not like Turkey or Iraq where people have business there or travel for holidays, even Afghanistan has lots of cultural similarities with Iran, but Pakistan ? no way. all of those guys were Pakistanis in Iran and after all Pakistan had to let its own citizens in.

While I think the open border between oak and Iran is not a heavily trafficked border.....

But Pakistan and china must be having a large number of visitors as china is heavily invested in infrastructure projects in Pakistan...... With still a huge number of new cases being reported in china, allowing flights between china and pak seems very stupid....... I predict pak could become the next new epicenter...

I badly hope this is fake - at least the story behind it..

Nope that's not fake. exaggerated yes but not fake . but you should not follow that twitter account, I checked it and that belongs to some anti IR groups. they are even worse in term of having no shame in spreading lies and rumors. they are supporting the son of former Iranian dictator Mohammad-Reza Pahlavi and they want to bring "democracy" by installing another dictator. they use every single opportunity to create chaos.

apparently there were rumors in the town that they are transferring patients directly from Qom to Bandar-Abbas and into that clinic, some people stupidly believed that and got angry, they threw few things and set a fire, it's not like they burned down the building . but if someone checks the map, Qom and Bandar-Abbas are more than 1000km away from each other ! you have to be extremely stupid to believe such rumor. yes of course Qom is running out of hospitals but first they are creating mobile hospitals and even if they want to transfer patients, they will send them to Tehran, Karaj, Isfahan, there are LOTS of big towns closer than Bandar-Abbas.

but yes that's true, people are panicking  and obviously people don't trust the government and believe rumors easily (specially after that Ukrainian plane story) and I guess some of those stupid guys didn't want somebody sick from Qom in their town ! even though their beloved city is already infected. but no matter what, that was obviously disgusting

    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
