I know. The time line can't be exactly aligned. We are busy reporting some other negative now.

There’s a difference between “doesn’t work at all” & “works, but has side effects that are only noticeable after a million doses.”  Does kind of indicate that whatever pre-release testing was done on the Chinese vaccine was not.....thorough.

There's a also a difference between" it doesn't promise 90%+ effective but still prevent severe symptoms and deaths" and " The side effects caused deadly blood clots and some irresponsible government still promote the vaccine while others halted it"

See the beauty of different angle to report the same thing?

Where is the angle here?

Media here consistently reports both these pieces of information. Every single day.

China report Sinovac: it doesn't promise 90%+ effective but still prevent severe symptoms and deaths"

UK report Astrazenca: works, but has side effects that are only noticeable after a million doses

China report Asteazenca: The side effects caused deadly blood clots and some irresponsible government still promote the vaccine while others halted it"

The problem with a 50% rate is that it does not prevent a virus from becoming endemic.  Many years ago I did some work on measles in Scotland & our target was 90% coverage in children, which was considered enough to eliminate the disease. (We got there for a few years in the early 90s, but fell away to about 75% later.)

But hasn't scientists expected it to become endemic for quite some time?

We've been using plenty of AZ vaccines that aren't that much higher (and starting using J&J as well).

    • They don't have a quota in men's singles either, but I guess they'll be able to added this Q? There are actually only 8 teams with Q in tea realy from possobily 11. But I'm just surprised China isn't competing in team events this season...
    • For me there's a World Cup in Winterberg- it doesn't count toward Olympic qualification, and there's no test event in Cortina- it does. The World Cup ranking isn't the same as the Olympic ranking and the latter isn't listed anywhere. Unfortunately, the Luge federation is performing poorly, unlike the FIS, which has up-to-date standings.
    • One of their riders is from Xinjiang, so absolutely they will take them.
    • Got Post 2 updated with results...glad to see  on the podium with Ro and Florian...now if they can do it individually it would be great!
    • I also wonder if China will accept its quota in the women's doubles? If so, Germany will only have one doubles, which will increase Italy's medal chances. I'm asking about China because their women's doubles is very weak and frequently suffers DNFs, and I suspect they'll send them to the Olympics. On the other hand, without it, they won't be able to compete on the team. Is anyone here from China here and know that`s country's policy in such cases? It means someone is qualified but very weak and has no chance of winning a medal.
    • Here is World Cup Standings, but I don't know if that's what you want: https://www.fil-luge.org/en/overall-scores?event_season_id=33.   I also don't know how they determined who got to compete, but perhaps Host Country extra quota?
    • Where can I see the current Olympic rankings? There's no link on Wikipedia. In my opinion, after the last World Cup, Italy should have had 3 people in the men's single, not the USA – the 3 athlete from the USA wasn't even in the top 20 recently, while here Gufler-Ita,  was 12th.
    • Updated Post 2 with results from Park City...Italy and United States joining the conversation!
    • Poland, for example, has Semurunyyi in speed skating, France has Kirpichnikova in swimming, who won a medal in the 1500 meters in Paris and we have nothing. We could easily have signed someone in speed skating, cross-country skiing, etc. We could have even proposed this to Ustjugov, becouse he wanted to train with the Italian national team 2 years ago. We simply lack the intelligence and cynicism. Antropova shows that it is worth doing this, because without her we probably wouldn`t have won the gold at the Olympics and World Championships in the last 2 years.
    • It's a shame that Italy hasn't naturalized anyone from those regions for 4 years, including winter sports. Many countries do this, though the most of them are those from the former USSR, where Russia itself probably doesn't bother with too long waiting periods: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc, but not only they. We only have Antropova, which isn't even case involved in the war, as it was already discussed in 2021.   https://www.oasport.it/2025/12/polina-kudermetova-non-rappresentera-piu-la-russia-la-tennista-giochera-sotto-la-bandiera-delluzbekistan/
