Italy is on path of being fully ahead of China by the end of next week.

That is, of course, unless the ball starts rolling in China once again...

I just can´t understand how can Italy have always every day so many new cases, I mean how is this even possible, is the virus in the air or what ? Aren´t the peoples isolated in their homes ?

Some factors people have mentioned here include a way above-average age, mishandling of mainly the first cases and a high number of smokers, although according to this list one wouldn't expect that to make such a difference compared with other countries.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_cigarette_consumption_per_capita

Edit: two of those factors are mentioned when talking about the high number of deaths (plus hospitals being simply overloaded), not specifically the number of cases

Coronavirus is also now capturing the whole of Italy, not just the North as in the early days.

And, yeah, apparently the virus can stay in the air for several hours (and for several days on surfaces).

Just imagine the spanish/italian attitude but with a worse health system. I fear for latin america...

Especially for Mexico and Brazil who have governments in denial.

Actually the South is still "safe", there aren't too much problems.

That what worries me the most, the rate of daily new cases in Italy has been slighty on the rise for the last two days (from +13% to +15%). How is that possible ?

Could it simply be data fuckery ?

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
