General for me, since that 2010 and the World Cup, where you defeated Italy last match in group phase, Slovakia has been pushing their squad to its limits: 120%. Their potential is small, their league weak, but their results are excellent. They play regularly in major tournaments, occasionally qualifying for elimination phase and they compete with 100% ambition. Now, after this victory against Germany, a playoff spot is almost certain.

Yeah, no, well, let be honest we are 52nd in the world, In no normal world we can even rivalize with Germany, This is just not real.

The only reason we won tonight is they underestimated us in a brutal way. This is the main reason of majority of our big wins against Italy at WC, against Spain in WC Qualifiers, against Belgium at last EURO and tonight against Germany, The big tend to underestimated us, this is in fact our weapon. when we are underestimated.

Be surethat in the away matche they will be focused and kick our asses back to Slovakia with a 6:0 alike debacle :p

At Euro 2024, there was a Round of 16 tie, and England scored to make it 1-1 in stoppage time. Italy was out of form in 2010, and besides, how can you underestimate someone when you've only played two group games before and you only won two points? Of course Germany, like many other strong teams are in poor form at the beginning of September, but Slovakia is almost certain to qualify for the play-offs from second place. They need to beat Luxembourg twice and Northern Ireland at home.

52 place in ranking is probably due to their poor performance in the Nations League, but isn't it better to get out of the group stage at the European Championship and then go to the World Cup? In my opinion, Slovakia is doing much better than Poland or the Czech Republic in last years, which have more players and greater potential.

Italy last advanced from their group at the World Cup in 2006, when we won all tournament. Slovakia advanced in 2010, so you are better than us in that respect. Besides, you have Calzona and we have Gattuso:lol:

Generally I think, that the Netherlands haven't won anything in the 21st century. Something was always missing in the finals, semi-finals, etc. I remember our match against them in the semi-finals of Euro 2000 in Rotterdam?, where Toldo saved two penalties in regularn time, we finished with in 9 men to 11 they, and ultimately we won the penalty shootout after the match.

Me watching football dates back to the Dutch trio in AC Milan and while they haven't won anything in XXI century they were at least legit contenders in mid 2000s to mid 2010s. QF at the last World Cup was a bit of a false down, they had the easiest group on paper (always a factor when the host is a non-football powerhouse) plus overrated USA in R16. They pushed Argentina close but just can't take them seriously for winning any tournament in this generation. The van Persie/Robben/Sneijder generation had way more quality and finishing skills IMO.

Congrats to Poland and Slovakia for such good results last night:yes I watched Bulgaria 0 - 3 Spain and, with all respect for Bulgaria, you can't play such bad football these days. I know, not many teams have chances against Spain, but they weren't capable to make 3-4 passes in a row all match. Bulgaria can be happy with 0-3, Spain could have scored easily 6, 7 goals in Sofia last night. I'm sorry for my neighbours...

If Spain beat in Turkiye next match we can say Spain is qualified already.

Bulgaria it`s not a football nation- 90 years of XX century it was exception but of course they should play better, since small Slovakia can do it, which has an even smaller population and tradition than them. Of course, the king of embarrassment is Italy, who last played in the World Cup in 2014 and last advanced at elimination phase in... 2006. Twenty years ago, what we're seeing now was unimaginable. And what's worse, our football doesn't deserve the attention it gets in all of country/media/social etc.. Certainly not for such embarrassing results. Let them win something and maybe then we'll talk. For now, let's focus on volleyball, or even basketball or tennis.
