And those events were scheduled for September/November...

Just wait and see how the whole of 2020/21 Winter season will be cancelled too at this rate. :p

It’s way too early to know, but it may be a reality we want to mentally prepare ourselves for.

Winter season in the Olympics year is never a priority for these athletes. Big names will probably skip it if it goes ahead anyway.

Well, so it’s for the next generation, then!  It’s just as important to keep the production line rolling as it is to keep the big names happy.  Unless people start bucking up & showing some courage there’s going to be a whole lot of places for new sports on the Olympic schedule, because a lot of the old ones are just going to die off.

Multi-event sports like athletics or swimming will never fall off the Olympic schedule. Both of them are ideal to create new global icons with several medals to be won. Two biggest Olympic icons of the XXI century - Bolt & Phelps - competed in these two sports. Coincidence? :p

Various things on over the weekend, but this looks worth a watch - the Swiss Steeplechase & 10000m Champs - is on an open stream.

Forgot to update that:

Andrius Gudžius opened his season with a 65.81 in the Discus Throw

European Ch. bronze medalist from Javelin Throw - Liveta Jasiūnaitė opened with a 58.01

Lastly, another decent result was from Ieva Zarankaitė in the Discus Throw with a 58.66

Sounds rather like either French speaker or Schwiiz Dütsch speaker trying to remind himself some Hochdeutsch from school long ago.

German guy manages both, or all three, French guy is struggling with the interviews!  :d

Good meet though - first I have seen this year with proper size fields, and not just International superstars against the girl who works at the Post Office.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
