Let me try to discuss with you guys make it clear how many crews will actually qualify from this WCH. Please, correct me whether I made a mistake. 

 

MEN

K1 1000m - 7 boats

K2 500m - 6 boats

K4 500m - 10 boats

C1 1000m - 5 boats

C2 500m - 8 boats

 

WOMEN

K1 500m - 7 boats

K2 500m - 6 boats

K4 500m - 10 boats

C1 200m - 5 boats

C2 500m - 8 boats

 

And if I may add an additional rule. For example. If a country qualifies K2 crew and nobody on K1 qualifies from any qualification event, the country is allowed to sign up a competitor to K1, but it must be a competitor who is a member of K2 crew. 

 

Am I right about these qualification rules for this WCH and generally for signing up more boats?

This is correct, except there's also the "doubling-up" stuff with this qualification system.

 

Honestly, it's better to think about this in terms of athlete quotas per discipline than boat quotas, because the number of boats depend on how many athletes qualify from a nation. 

 

Athlete quotas given out at the Worlds:

 

Men's Kayak - 58 quotas

Men's Canoe - 21 quotas

Women's Kayak - 58 quotas

Women's Canoe - 21 quotas

"D" will mean doubling-up, meaning that there has to be a reallocation because the athlete already qualified in another event.

Do you expect Many doubling up and realocation of quota?

I remember that there were many realocations after 2011, 2015 WChs.

Not as many as in the past when we had two more events, but we will get a couple per discipline.

That is gonna be interesting counting. But I like your idea. Let's try to work on this somehow together. Anyways, there was some doubling up, but when I see how did the events change, I would guess there will be way less than before. I mean you may double K4 and K2. But distances have changed, some were excluded. Some of them really look like that many countries have selected way more carefully and still in many occasions they have each athlete competing in one Olympic events. At most 2 but there are not many athletes like this....

Good luck to everyone, this will be a bloodbath. 

Very weird draw, to be honest. Even SF 2 has World Rank: 2, 4, 6, 8, when SF1 has 9, 10, 11 and 12 as the best ranked boats.

I saw that our media tolds that our womens K4 team already qualified with being in final directly, is it true?
