Swimming at the Aquatics WA World Championships 2023

What a swim for Titmus

By the way, does an all-time ranking exist somewhere in swimming? Like World Athletics has this one, where one can see the fastest/best athletes ever (with only everyone's best performance) and the fastest/best performances ever (with multiple performances for athletes):

https://worldathletics.org/records/all-time-toplists/sprints/100-metres/outdoor/women/senior

Does something similar exist in swimming? So if someone swims, say, 3:56.80, we can say "that's the Xth fastest time ever"?

Titmus with a WR and a triumphant return to the big stage. And that is a big WR :yikes:  Tokyo nightmares have returned for the others.

Ledecky started very slow, but it didn't matter at the end either way. McIntosh sinks, which posts a few questions.

Summer just trying to fit in with Canadian athletes and finish 4th.

Another homegrown disappointment...

Probably won't get any golds here.  Hopefully can rebound for Paris.

It's juts the first event. :p Now if people expected her to win 6 golds ala Phelps, then yeah, it might be a disappointment.

:AUS AUS starts with a bang as usual, since the 400 free is as AUS discipline as any. Throw in the 4x100 women's and day 1 is always amongst their strongest. Let's see how long they will keep the lead in the table.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
