David Lynch has died  One of the most unique minds in the history of cinema & TV. Sad day.

I really hate him for the movie "mulholland drive", first time ever i dont understand AT ALL a movie and a friend of mine, big fan of Lynch, convinced me to go to the cinme to watch it......

Two hour afters that, i have a big headache and want to scape from the cinema, the movie finish after 3 hours with the half part of spectators than it starts.

For anyone interested, 2 movies released in digital (meaning for buy, rent or to watch in your reliable pirate page) this week regarding the Olympics. One was The Fire Inside, a biographical film about Claressa Shields, two times olympic gold medallist in boxing and the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing.

The other is September 5, which is a drama film who narrates the coverage of a US TV network during the terrorist attack against the israeli delegation in the Munich 1972 Olympics. This movie got an Academy Award (Oscars) nomination in Best Original Screenplay.

My friends at the "Keep the Flame Alive" podcast have a review of "The Fire Inside"

For those who have not yet hear, almost two weeks ago, a group of Mexican creators, led by a trans-woman, released on Youtube their own"homage" to Emilia Pérez, called "Johanne Sacrebleu".

On their own words, it's a film "about France and French society, made by people who have never lived in France nor speak French", a clear allusion to the overall egolatry of European and US critics that praised and rewarded Emilia Perez and their Audiard in particular.

Here is the link for those who are curious.

Keeping my mind free of nationalism, I must say that the arrogance of Emilia Perez and their PR's is just that, arrogance. It lacks a good script, the music is no better than musical parodies from bad sitcoms, and the performances suffer as a result of that, probably Saldana being the acceptable one, but far from deserving a Best Supporting (or Best Actress as other would argue) nomination.

That being said, I didn't expect much from the politically correct Hollywood community; they wanted to put a transgender person on the spotlight, yet when said person turned out to be a piece of shit human being (there's no proof to the contrary, Gascon has always been an arrogant asshole, even before her gender reassignment), every other participant of this mockery of good cinema and of true representation and visibility has quickly try to save their own flesh. Pathethic.

Looks like Gascon has self-sabotaged anyway after someone dug out the old tweets about George Floyd, Islam and whatever else. Yeah, a film about Mexico made by Europeans. What could possibly go wrong? I read Selena Gomez had to le-learn Spanish to even make it passable on-screen? I'd never suspect she forgot how to speak Spanish fluently

Don't know if anyone cares about this award, but I'm here once again with my annual Oscar predictions post. Last year I predicted 17/23 winners and this year it will probably be worse since I'm not certain about my predictions in many categories. Of course I'm more invested this year since for the first time ever we have a brazilian movie nominated for Best Picture, and could be our first win ever in any category (it has a shot in International Film, although I always expect the worst from the Oscars and the very worst this year is 'Emilia Pérez' :p).

For Best Picture, it's either 'Anora' or 'Conclave', a hard to call to make since I don't know which one is more liked (for me both are good if not memorable movies). I watched all 35 feature films and 15 short films nominated, so I leave a personal ranking of all the categories, as well as some names I wish were nominated.

["will win" is my prediction / "could win", my alternate prediction / "should win", my personal ranking / "shoud have been nominated", a way to remember other notable work].
