Nice to see a full boxing squad but disappointed by the divers taking part, especially considering it's a direct olympic qualifier.

Nice to see a full boxing squad but disappointed by the divers taking part, especially considering it's a direct olympic qualifier.

I think GB Swimming's hands were tied by the results of last week's national diving championships and to be fair, at the 2022 European Diving Champs, even with a pretty strong team, GBR only won 1 of the events where a quota would have been available - the women's 10m platform with Spendolini-Sirieix and I think it is a safe assumption to think she is capable of getting a top 12 finish at the worlds

I think the working assumption within the GB squad is that they could/should be in a position to wrap up the majority of the quotas at the world championship - I think there is a good chance that we could get both the men's synchro teams qualified and possibly 6 individual quotas in Fukuoka. Our weakest event is likely to be women's 3m springboard.

But if the results in Fukuoka don't go the way GB Swimming expects, they will possibly regret not putting more focus on these games.

For me, the most disappointing squad is in triathlon - we're guaranteed 2 quotas, but in order to get the third, we need 3 athletes in the top 30 of the rankings and at the moment, we only have Alex Yee. Barclay Izzard is currently 56 so has a chance to climb up, but Connor Bentley is ranked at 169 and Hamish Reilly isn't even listed in the Olympic rankings.

Honestly, overall the quality of athletes competing across all sports seems pretty good from the lists I’ve seen.

Yup, it was decided by our federation some weeks ago apparently. We'll, Cecon or Bresadola absence will not change anything :p

For the triathlon, there is a world championship series event 2 days before the event in Montreal, so it is likely the Izzard would be competing there, where more points will be on offer.
