You mean the fact that women were allowed to watch a men's match for the first time in 40 years?:yikes:

technically it wasn't the first time. it happened before with limited number and under special situations.

but yes that, (first time in football though)

I didn't know you have such rule in your country, but it's understandable due to religion reasons.

it's not really necessarily about religion. if you ask what's it about ? I don't know. there are some stupid rules here nobody knows why.

It’s a political facade. The hardliners can say it’s for religious interests, while it just exists to subjugate part of the population. It causes gender tensions and focus people to focus on issues rather than the extremist government and their heavy handed policies.

Okay, hold up. Since when does Iraq have a world class stadium in Basra? I know totally understand why rumor has it the 2021 Pan-Arab Games will be held in Basra.

Historic first ever "official" match between :PRK vs :KOR held in Pyongyang was played today and finished 0-0

The game was played behind closed doors, the host not receiving any visas except players and coaching staff, Local fans were not permitted to entry neither. The match was not even broadcasted in the local N. Korean TV

Shocking defeat in Bahrain and our World Cup chance is already in jeopardy ! Bahrain was almost the worst place in the earth for Iran to play a football match, we never beat them away but still a defeat was unexpected. they got a penalty by our stupid mistake and since then they played "Bahrainian style" which means grass-rolling time wasting. dirty play .

I’m very worried about our next crucial game in Basra against Iraq next month.  it will be in a very hostile environment. actually I'm also worried about the safety of our players, if we lose we are out. and it seems our "nice" coach doesn't know how to deal with small dirty Asian teams. I already miss Queiroz.

Better hope Beach Soccer finds gold :p. I know Iraq has problems with the Shias, but I think the hate against them as gone down. I’d say Iraq is actually a one of the best points in its modern history. Of course, since I said this there will be a civil war tomorrow, but that statement was worth it.

    • I’ve only seen things related to the father of this current president. And not even much of that, everything had the face of the new one now.   but of course, I saw only what I was allowed to see , that is how things work if you want to visit it :-)
    • I wonder if there are any monuments to their first leader, who died in 2006, or has the latter taken over everything?
    • now the leader is not that one, but his son (you’ll see him in one of the photos I shared, in the tv. His face is everywhere as it happens in any country with cult of the leader).   and yes the story is true, in Ashgabat only white, golden and some other colour (grey?) cars are allowed in the city. Just like every building is white.   And it’s funny you mention the talibans, because Turkmenistan has an Afghanistan representation/consulate in their country, and one of the days when we were eating lunch in a mall at Mary city, the Turkmen guide was called by the restaurant waiter and then came to us and said “ok so don’t worry, but a taliban delegation is coming here to eat lunch so don’t take pictures and behave discreetly when they enter”.   One of those wtf moments of our trip haha
    • I agree, but having 2 (in 2016) or 4 weight categories wont help the noble cause. Why UWW limited this WC to only non olympic wrestlers? Why only 4 weights?  And so on. I saw some great bouts but they were overshadowed by these facts. At least IMO.

    • https://www.news18.com/news/auto/turkmenistan-president-bans-all-colored-cars-from-capital-only-white-cars-allowed-1632963.html   It`s crazy. In my opinion, there was better there when they were under the USSR, because there were no such absurdities.
    • A few years ago I read a crazy story about this president-dictator from Turkmenistan, who banning white or dark cars from being imported to Turkmenistan (I don't remember which ones). This is a country of absurdities. After the fall of the USSR, a dictator- Turkmenbascha, who ruled there for many years and died about 15 years ago and his health minister replaced him and has ruled ever since. Both are madmen. Uzbekistan or Kazakhstan are more civilized and don't have such weirdos in power. It's probably only the Taliban that are more radical.
    • Would you believe......Southern Hemisphere outdoor season starts tomorrow!  Live meet from  here     https://m.youtube.com/@coparaguay/streams
    • 200m / 400m runner Jodie Williams.   Had a great record at the Age Group level but never quite got the big solo wins as an adult.  Relay bronze in Paris was her finest moment.   https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/articles/ckgl7gwvj8go
    • This is the World Senior Championship final, not a high school match   and this kid is under 20 (won the world U20 this year) and destroyed everybody (including  Olympic Champ Uguev and World Champ Arujau) in his senior debut.   injuries and lack of motivation play a big role, but if this kid stays healthy and motivated, I don't think anybody beats him in next 10 years. he is lightening fast, his gut-wrench is deadly and he can throw at will. that's the complete package.   not sure what Olympic weight he picks. Japan has the current Olympic Champion in both 57kg and 65kg.   I think it's fair to say Japan is currently the best men's freestyle team in the world. (despite being weak in heavier weights)
