Free points on offer tomorrow again.

But only :MKD :IRI took the offer. As suspected, 30 km was too long for Hadžić's comfort zone. Even if it got shortened to 20 km, apparently.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Tour de Ski finally starts the day after tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be pretty catastrophic. In Oberstdorf it is not at all clear what can be skied. Currently there are double-digit plus straight and also heavy rain is announced. The two stages could also be quite interesting in terms of waxing. In Val Mustair, the Pursuit has already been replaced by a mass start, which means that the weak sprinters will hardly have a chance to catch up.

I've been wondering, what exactly is the purpose of replacing a pursuit with a same-distance mass start? How does it save anything?

If you can use a shorter track for a mass start, surely you can do the same for a pursuit, so that makes no difference. Plus in a pursuit, there's the wave start at say 4 minutes or so, so there will be a maximum of what, 10 minutes more in which an athlete is on track? That shouldn't make too much of a difference..

But yeah, 10-12 degrees for Oberstdorf the days after tomorrow, not as awful as it was for the 2021 world championships, but it's not promising...

Do that Mike Dixon and the other guy on Eurosport's English commentary ever do cross-country skiing outside of the Tour de Ski? They really sound like those stereotypical English Eurosport commentators, with 90% of the commentary being those super generic fact-sheet things like almost all of those English Eurosport commentators during the Olympics :d

"It's all about the power and about keeping the speed now!" Yeah, duh.

Diggins out, 40th. Urevc 44th, Carl 57th, very disappointing. Weng 53rd, which is less surprising, but still painful.

Karlsson with a very impressive 5th place, she's ready for the classification. Fähndrich impressive again, and a strong 3rd place for young Märta Rosenberg. And yeah, impressive debut for Sanfilippo :d

    • Playa del Carmen Elite16   Women’s Tournament Gold-  Carol Solberg/Rebecca Cavalcanti Silver-  Terese Cannon/Megan Kraft Bronze-  Kristen Nuss/Taryn Brasher   Shoutout to my new favourite pairing of Hüberli/Kernen, who have backed up their silver at the Yucatán Challenge by recording a quarterfinal finish here by defeating Olympic Champions  Duda/Ana Patricia in straight sets in the round of 12 (to be fair, they looked off all event long, but they also beat Nuss/Brasher). This team definitely has what it takes to be a top 5 team and consistently contending for medals. First time watching Kernen play, all I can say is how is she that good at only 19? She’s gonna be a star in the future.    Men’s Tournament Gold-  Noslen Diaz/Jorge Alayo  Silver-  Tomas Capogrosso/Nicolas Capogrosso  Bronze-  Chaim Schalk/James Shaw    Schalk/Shaw defeated Olympic champions  Ahman/Hellvig in the quarterfinals   Full Results

    • So I was watching a replay of China-Germany in between Canada’s game against Sweden and this one against Italy and… it seems like China cheated during it which could’ve been critical in them winning the match?    During the 1st end, Xu with his last rock had an easy hit for the single against three German stones. One of the sweepers for China (I can’t tell which one, this team is quite new to me) “accidentally” kicked their own stone, which redirected one of their own stones into the rings, and Germany only got the steal of 2. HIS FUCKING FOOT IS TOUCHING THE ROCK   Now after, Team Xu was claiming that the stone was picked (it was not) and Muskatewitz was arguing that it couldn’t possibly have been picked. China wouldn’t admit it, and they ended up winning the game 10-9. BOO.    Hope these cheaters don’t qualify for the Olympics.
    • Edin usually has mediocre seasons though (that being said this has been worse than usual), then really starts to show up for Worlds. He’s only won 4 GSOC events in his career.     They’re at a 4-2 record at the moment, so seems to be the case again. Plus, they played really well in their loss to Canada.
    • I'm in tears, finally I have access after months. For some reason I can only enter the site from my phone. Surely it must be a problem with my home internet connection.
    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
