game over! Italy flopped once again...

beside today's mistakes, Bartalucci's decisions are just not understandable...through the entire last 2 years he has never put down the right formation...

I just can't believe that we have never had De Luca and Zorzi with their best horses in the same team...Europeans, Nations' Cup final...never!

hope he's getting fired soon...

OMG!!! Finally we are back at the Olympics!!! First Irish showjumping team since Athens 2004. What a ridiculous sentence but true. So so so many times we missed out by one place and a time penalty or hundredths of a second and last time we had the debacle of a steward running in front of our horse meaning we missed out on time.

So let me let out years of pent up frustration......

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Feel so sorry for Italy, I know how it feels. But it was finally our turn, after 16 years of waiting!!

Ireland is better than Italy, I already had the feelings it would have gone in this way since last year when Australia qualified at Worlds equestrian games instead of Great Britain.

Ireland might be better than Italy (but imho it's still to be seen with both De Luca & Zorzi with their best horses and in top shape themselves, which means 2 safe 0 under any circumstance), but surely in Tokyo we're going to see teams that are definitely not as good as Italy...

and this happens only because of Bartalucci and NF's bad choices and inability to make long term programs...

if you add to this also all the Dressage troubles and shameful management, you can only take notice that FISE is an absolute disaster and needs to be completely turned around...

Marziani with that late pole lost his share of 100k bonus for those who jump double clear.

Granted, same happened to Kenny thanks to his unnecessary time fault (which could also cost Ireland the title). :d

Not quite how it works. There are no safe clears in show jumping, specially not when the pressure is this high :p

    • The only ones complaining about the short track refs are Italians, imo. Not even on this forum, but in general, from what I've been seeing on live chats and other social media sites. That says a lot to be honest. I suspect it's partially due to them not performing to the high standard they're expected to perform at especially at the Olympics. The refs make a lot of mistakes for everyone, there's no bias against or towards anyone    Plus, Italy have won 6 medals already.... the most you've won at a Worlds since 2016.
    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )

    • well, Cuba and Venezuela for sure...   Iran is a different question, but I hope in 2 years all this war shit is done and dusted and at least in the sports world everything is gonna be OK
    • In my opinion the Italian team has been playing above expectations since last year after several years of decline. Last year, we advanced to the first division at the European Championships and now they're playing very close matches against the strong India and Scotland. We a little miss a potential to do more – we are only 18th in the world rankings. Our men's team's performance in this sport is much weaker.
    • I wonder if all Cuba, Iran and Venezuela will be able to travel and compete in LA at all... Hopefully that yes.
