All 3 quotas in men's went to Egypt with Egypt winning 4 quotas in men's event after all (of course only 2 will be able to go to Rio)

Actually no. At the 2016 Modern Pentathlon Worlds only medalists win Olympic quotas. If they are already qualified then the quotas will be reallocated through the World rankings.

The only athlete that qualified by finishing in the top 3 is Jinhwa JUNG from South Korea; the other two places are reallocated through rankings, which go to:

:GBR James COOKE
:EGY Amro EL GEZIRY
:HUN Adam MAROSI
:EGY Omar EL GEZIRY
:RUS Maksim KUSTOV
:LTU Justinas KINDERIS
:CHN Jianli GUO
:HUN Bence DEMETER

Now, we must wait for South Korea to reallocate 2 places, and China, Egypt, Hungary and Russia one.

So, if Egypt chooses El Geziry brothers, then the African quota will go to the next best nation from Africa?

Yes, reallocated quotas from continental qualifiers stay within the continental qualifier (other denied quotas are reallocated to the world rankings). However, if Eslam Hamad is not selected the quota will be reallocated to Amro El Geziry so everything will be fine (no Mauritius athlete will compete).

No, if Hamad won't be qualified the quota goes to Berndt Burger from RSA. But still you forgot to count Hefny - he's qualified through ranking too, as well as El Geziry brothers.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
