Looks like Selina Gasparin is not entirely done yet, easily winning today's Alpencup sprint in Lenzerheide :d

More biathlon from the World’s pariah states. It’s the not-too-accurately named Friendship Cup - Кубок Содружества - which is basically the same as the Russian Cup, except it’s taking place in Belarus.

One plus of TVP Sport taking over biathlon coverage in Poland are the interviews they are doing with random athletes (It was Laegreid last week). Apparently they caught up with Slettemark next so I hope to catch that soon :)

On a podcast called Threshold, Campbell Wright announced that as of the 2023-2024 season, he will be skiing for the USA.  He has been training and traveling with the US all season.  New Zealand has given him little if any support.  Wright has a US passport and is a US citizen.  He almost skied for the US in the Olympics, but NZ stepped up a the last moment.

Yes, but no.  Wright as of right now has not won anything approaching Fak.

Oh i know but the reason for switching is the same, but has gotten noticeable results being from a country with no biathlon traditions, just no stunning medals but still new zealand should of atleast tried more than Croatia did.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
    • Marian Kasprzyk (boxing) - 1964 Olympic Champion & 1960 bronze medallist passed away at the age of 86.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • What is happening in Canada , people leave it  They say life is very expensive , you cant find an appartement , the salary is miserable    is it the multi tax of Trump?
    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
    • The probability of winning a medal in the men's 500m also seems a bit off
