Provoking other countries into doing something, in some way? No idea, but Russia of course doesn't need some old nuclear power plant since they've got their own stuff and Ukraine has had it and probably didn't do much with it, so simply having Chernobyl doesn't bring much of an advantage...

Russian forces have captured an airport 20 kms from Kiev. This could unravel very fast indeed. Obviously this was possible since the attack came from Belarus territory.

This seems like the kind of desperation that we witnessed in Hungary in 1956 when Soviets started their invasion. No chance whatsoever against a much bigger force, trying to plea for some significant help that will never ever arrive. It seems already quite clear that the EU leaders are not even close to ban Russia from SWIFT, that's a step too far for everyone involved.
