So it is confirmed:

FINA Confirms Fukuoka Worlds Rescheduled For July 2023; Doha Edition Switched To January 2024

I hope Australia skips that shit in Doha in January 2024. Two long course World Champs and an Olympics in 12 months is ridiculous.

Well, I actually like it. I will probably have more time to watch it in July than in May.

FINA is officially a joke federation:

Budapest to host additional FINA World Aquatics Championships in 2022

So that's three WCs: June 2022, July 2023, January 2024

Completely ridiculous, but hey if the Hungarian government wants to pay for me to have some entertaining swimming to watch I ain't going to complain too much.

(Having worlds in 2022 isn't ridiculous, it's the January 2024 edition that is complete nonsense).

Having it 4 consecutive years (2022-2025) is ridiculous. An athlete lucky enough to have their career peak during these years can achieve quite an inflated number of world titles.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
