Football tragedy in Indonesia: A match between Arema vs Persebaya (two rival teams from East Java) ended 2-3 and the subsequent riot caused over 120 deaths.

Home fans (Arema) began climbing the fence and entered the field, started destroying things before the police used tear gas to disperse them. Unfortunately it caused more panic and a stampede happened.

34 people died on the spot, over 90 died in the hospital….

That is one of the worst mass police actions in quite a while in terms of visibility....whoever was in charge there and gave the tear gas order is directly responsible for dozens and dozens of deaths :(

  • 2 weeks later...

We are bidding with Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Three different continents in one bid...

Personally I miss the days of one or at the most two countries hosting (provided that they were neighbours). Now it's simply too much...

Slovak Football Federation announced that the 20th November we will play a Friendly match against Chile.

Nothing so exceptional in this sentence you will say, anyway, this will be the official farewell of Marek Hamšík with the National Team. Still not known how many minutes he will play in the game, certain is just that he will be the team captain.

Marek last appearance in the NT was in 2021 in the home game against Slovenia during the 22 WC qualifier. It was his 135th official match for Slovakia (He is already the record holder, also the all time top scorer of SVK NT with 26 goals)

Qatar will replace China and will host 2023 Asian Cup

I believe Qatar can't host it in Summer (because of the weather). I assume it will be moved to late 2023 or January 2024.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
