Olympic 100m champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs DSQ for false start:p. It happens to the best of them.

according to the Italian press, it wasn't a false start at all...and even the audience present at the hall did blow a lot of whistles against the judges...:mumble:

by the way, in the same meet in Belgrade, Nick Ponzio won the men's Shot Put with the new Italian record of 21.61m and Zeynab Dosso won the women's 60m in 7.21 secs...

so, some good results for Italy, too...:p

but the star of the night was of course :SWE Armand "Mondo" Duplantis, who won the men's Pole Vault with the new Indoor World Record of 6.19m...:yikes:

Usually in these commercial meets the judges find an equipment fault when the superstar’s lane number comes up.

17 years old Nick Griggs just ran a 3:56 mile indoors :yikes:

It's a Euro U20 record. He also won European U20 gold last year over 3000m at the age of 16. Crazy to think we could finally have another potential track star from Ireland after so many years.

Singapore bidding to host the 2025 World Athletics Championships

Sport Singapore has officially announced the country’s bid to stage the World Athletics Championships in 2025.

The national sports agency has confirmed that Singapore is aiming to become the first Southeast Asian country to host World Athletics’ flagship event.

The 2025 edition will also mark Singapore’s 60th year of independence with Sport Singapore claiming it "would be a fitting addition to the nation’s celebrations".

Sport Singapore has revealed that it will partner with Singapore-based Malaysian billionaire businessman Ong Beng Seng to help turn its bid into reality.

  • 2 weeks later...

So yeah... Mykolas Alekna threw the discus at 66.70m. He smashed the Lithuanian U20 and U23 records, as well as qualifying for the European and World Championships.

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
