I have to say I was more impressed with South Africa among the minnows. And we'll see how Colombia does in R16.

The decline of German women's football isn't anything new, they truly have no plan B if "give the ball to Popp" plan A doesn't work. USA was a bunch of old timers and ancient celebrity storylines. Excluding the amateurs from Vietnam they scored one goal in three games vs the "real" teams. And that was from a corner. The future looks shaky, the infusion of money into European clubs has dramatically closed the gap and basically USA should be left behind really soon if this World Cup doesn't serve as the official marker anyway.

I must say Women football has really developed in this competition, there are no punch bags anymore apart from Vietnam , Zambia and Costa Rica , all other teams have left a mark , still we see some silly goals like in SA vs Italy or Spain vs Switzerland , but things are getting better , development of European Teams improved quality of Football in Europe and Africa as well

Made the mistake of opening up X (artist formerly known as Twitter) tonight after the US loss…yikes.

Just managed to catch up now, but did the American women ever train a single penalty kick? Holy moly that were some pathetic attempts, zero power or commitment or anything behind it :yikes:

South Africa is a truly fun team. Not one of the 'lesser' teams who just go lay in front of the goal and hope they keep the goals against to a minimum, but just going for it and attacking whenever they can, that makes teams fun to watch :cheer:

Sorry but I feel they were very arrogant during the shootout. :(

    • It's hard to believe it was still in this calendar year
    • In last year, we were were happy with Brignone's wins, and today we're excite that della Mea is in the top 10... It's hard to imagine a bigger fall... And Goggia should give up on the giant slalom and focus on the speed events – Vonn isn't wasting time on the giant slalom, but is training for downhill and SG. Goggia last one finished on the podium in the giant slalom in march 2018, and she has no any chance of winning an Olympic medal at the regular competition. It's a waste of time and energy to finish 8th or 9th and risk injury. And we have to accept that without Brignone, we have no chance of winning a medal in the giant slalom in Cortina, and that's it.
    • yeah, just like Anna Trocker earlier Today   I think this is the best way to blow them    they're not ready for the world cup stage yet, but we're so bad right now that our coaches are digging deep
    • Some surprises and fun results so far at this year's Worlds. Like a few minutes ago, when  Harrysson made the 1/8 with another very good performance. Now he plays Jonny Clayton, who this afternoon made a stellar performance in a tough battle with Zonneveld. I don't see an easy match for Clayton, even though on paper he would have wished such an opponent for a 1/8 before the tournament.   Also i'm delighted that my fav Gary Anderson seems to be in good form, though at his age, he is prone to sudden bad matches at any time.
