Kamil Stoch has been pulled from the Four Hills after finishing 59th in Innsbruck quals. This is only the second time since qualifying was introduced in 1990 that a defending FH champion failed to qualify for one of the rounds (Sigurd Pettersen in Oberstdorf 2004 was the previous one).

Overall this shapes up to be a total disaster come Beijing WOG. One might assume Natalia Maliszewska in short track suddenly looms as our biggest medal hope.

We cant forget about Andżelika Wójcik on 500m speed skaiting and with massive luck about Maryna. I never expected that in my lifetime we will have bigger medal chance in alpine skiing than in ski jumping...

Gasienica-Daniel in GS is a true long shot. Would need some DNFs and maybe covid cases among other favorites. It's actually good she had covid six weeks before WOG because I doubt she can test positive again so quickly.

Big wind delays in Innsbruck today.  Got a revised start time at 15:00 CET, looks doubtful.

And it’s off.  Double bill at Bichofshofen.

and cancelled for today as expected.

Will retry the 3rd race tomorrow but this time already in Bischofshofen with new qualification before the race and the 4th race on the same place as originally schedulled in Thursday with another qualification before the race.

I just can't understand, what has happened to Poland. Everyone seems so off from the previous years. Even an all time great like Stoch is not like himself.

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
