Trying to make sense of this:

 

"Predictors can only choose athletes from the same nation in up to maximum 50% of the events in each sport. Example: Athletes and duos from China in diving events can only be choosen for a maximum of 2 events as diving have 4 events in total. Example: Athletes and duos from China in badminton events can only be choosen for a maximum of 2 events as badminton have 5 events in total. This is to keep under the 50% limit for each sport. Example: For artistic gymnastics the limit for women's events are 3 (total events 6) and for men 4 (total events 8)."

 

Doesn't diving have 8 events total? Or is the limit per gender as the last sentence seems to imply? how is that consistent with the given example about Badminton then?

The part with diving is not correctly written from my side. As you write, diving have 8 events, so it should be a maximum of 4 events where the same same NOC can be selected for. It has now been edited in the first post. 

 

The last example with gymnastics is to clarify that in sports with a different total amount of events between the men and women, the limit of maximum 50% applies accordingly to the amount of events for each gender. 

 

To make another example where this rule would apply would be wrestling. Men's wrestling have 12 events and women's have 6 events. The limit for each gender in this case would be 6 for men and 3 for women where the same NOC can be selected. 

 

Boxing does have a difference of the total events for men and women. Men have 7 events and women 6 events, but as the limit is up to 50%, the same NOC can be selected for a maximum of 3 events for both men and women, 6 in total. 

 

I hope this clarify the mentioned part.
