I'm worried I hope spain shalt not disqualified ..

No, no reason to worry. It would be suicide by FIBA to ban all those nations, so it wont happen. Olympic tournament would be completely senseless otherwise ...

In my opinion the probability that you get disqualified in mens water polo was/is higher ... :p

I don't really follow basketball. They are threatening to kick out nations from Olympics/European championships because of some stupid club competition?

This is not how normal adult people should settle this. Especially with their status. Not only are they hurting their image with this drama, they are also hurting the sport that they are supposed to be representing. What they are doing is wrong and there's no easy way to put it. Also, they're probably doing that because of money, but at least they could have prohibited the players of the clubs to join the national squads. In Lithuania, everyone is actually ashamed that we are giving in to FIBA's demands and we're still not certain if they won't drop us from ECH / Olympics. We already had to drop our second best team out of the national league to appeal to the FIBA gods.

What do you mean? I think the probability that the french team in mens water polo will get disqualified is about 0,000001% and its even less likely that the french team in mens basketball will get eliminated. I didnt watch the water polo match France vs. Canada, so i cant say anything about the behavior of the french team, but i just think it would be completely childish to disqualify them and i am sure that it wont happen. I have nothing against the french team and i am sure that both french teams will play in Rio. FIBA can decide whatever they want, but i would be shocked if IOC would really allow them to disqualify a team from Rio. In the end it will be either all teams or no tournament at all, so there is only one real option ...

So probably no Griffin, Davis, Bryant, Simmons (Australia) in Rio ...

    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.
    • Mary Rand has died aged 86. The first British woman to win a Gold in track and field at the 1964 Tokyo Games (where she also took home a further two medals in the Women’s 4x100m relay and Pentathlon).
    • Athing Mu competed in the USA trials in 2024 and 2025 post the 2023 rule changes. She also won Gold in 2022 and Bronze in 2023.    Jelimo the jury is out. She doesn’t look male like the other two do.
    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
    • badminton queen Carolina Marin announced that she can't take part into the home Europeans in the upcoming weeks because of her injured knee and calls it a career 😭
    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
