They cant possibly be as Bad as the Ski jumping Camera Angles.

Short track has one bad one as well. The hockey venues are horrible as well.

I guess China doesnt have much experience with hosting Winter Sports Events.

Watching :BIH does not fill me with confidence…

I found his 5th training run to be a stressful experience as well.

Only 7 athletes within 1 second after day 1. Very selective track. In 2018, we had 13 athletes within 1 second after run 4.

Kindl and Ludwig are practically even, will be very very close tomorrow.

I haven't checked if somebody mentioned this here before but :GEO Saba Kumaritashvili (currently 30th) is a cousin of late Nodar Kumaritashvili who was killed in this tragic accident in Vancouver. Please remember the guy today.

Few thoughts...

Well... I am loving this track! It's long. Camera angles are amazing. Gaps are huge, meaning a lot can be gained/lost, and that there will be huge deficits on the final leaderboard (like reading results from some vintage Olympics).

Pretty convinced the Ukrainian luge federation is just a front for a money-laundering operation. In Pyeongchang they finished last in every event (both singles, doubles, relay). Today both their men crashed in run 1. Come on?

Should be an exciting battle Ludwig vs Kindl for gold. I am tipping Kindl actually. :yes

I agree with @dcro

I'm also pretty sure that the track got slower after the first 4 or 5 runs in both runs, but then managed to be at least fair for every guy (on the contrary of many races we've seen on the "historical" tracks in these years)...

the only thing I don't like about it, it's the excessive importance that the start has, I'd have liked a couple more tricky passages in the late turns and to avoid that uphill section...

Obviously, I hope that D-Fish can save his ass and get the bronze medal he missed by 2/1000 of a second 4 years ago...

Is it possible to watch training runs somewhere?

I think the 5th and 6th training runs of the sliding sports are broadcast on the international feed. NBC has picked a few of them up.

I really lived the Beijing track at the test event, too. It’s a shame it won’t be a regular on the world cup circuit due to it’s location.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures
