:USA Anna Hoffmann, winner of the US Olympic trials, got entered in the Olympics after originally being the *sixth* alternate (and after multiple articles were written about the US failing to qualify any woman in ski jumping).

Yes, :ITA declined the second female quota at the last moment. They really stuck a fork in their ski jumping. :USA got the spot instead.

@Jan LinhaYeah, :ITA decided to send only one male ski jumper so the "last minute" rejected quotas went to :CZE and :ROU

Yeah, I heard about the refusal and I know that :CZE male jumper was 1st below the line. Just did not expect :CZE will confirm another spot with all those "great results" this season.... Still gotta wait for the official word from Czech ski federation anyway....

U.S. gets another Olympic ski jumping spot

Most notably, they're up to 4 men's jumpers, so they'll get to compete in the men's team event

yeah pretty unfortunate, especially her competition is already on Day 1... but, hey, lets always hope only for the best, she still can have two negative tests in the next 48 hours and make it in time...

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
