Ski Jumping at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

I get the idea behind why the normal hill event exists, but this is the one competition with a long history that I would remove from the Games. It just seems so pointless, this isn't "real" ski jumping, the sport has moved past this a long time ago. They should have dropped it when the women's event was added, that way the sport would have one male and one female individual event, equality achieved.

Women's ski jumping is not competitive enough to conduct a large hill competition. Some women had trouble of reaching 90 meters at Willingen for crying out loud. Normal hills have been phased out from World Cup in the last 30 years or so but the best technicians usually prevail and have a better shot for medals than at large hills. Ski jumping isn't freestyle, it's way more difficult sport and thankfully it's hardly present in USA & Canada so those calls for equality will be very weak if any. I mean the way US female ski jumping collapsed in the last 5-6 years is truly something else. They have completely punted on a sport they dominated literally 10 years ago.

Nobody knows tbh :p

Yeah, the state of Czech ski jumping reflects the state of the Harrachov complex right now.

Looks like the Czechs are ready to join Hungarian ski jumping.

This is how our largest ski jumping hill looks like:

No. Králiky near Banská Bystrica.

The Štrbské Pleso hill is fine and working but completely unused :p

I guess it's more of a protocol thing and the guys having another jump, otherwise this Q is a total waste of time.. I think there should have been close to 60 jumpers initially, but some Covid tests dropped the number to 53...

@hckošiceSki jumping is a low-hanging fruit but I guess not enough Slovakians want to swap ice hockey for ski jumping. The ghosts of Martin Mesik live on :p

Unfortunately, that is true.

Btw the last SVK at the Olympics was not Mesík but Tomáš Zmoray (The last of the Mohicans) in Vancouver and from then ... nothing
