They removed the quota for Latvia since it was earned by Rastorgujevs.

They added :KAZ.

They removed the 2nd quota for China since it was not in the top 12, to give it via "host country places" (+1 another one).
So that's only 11 quota via the IBUQP, why is :CRO not included ?

2XCHN, 2XJPN, 2XKAZ, 2xMDA, POL, ROM, NZL and KOR =12

Also I don't understand the "host nation places".

Is 1+2 :

* 1 via IBUQP (Cheng) + 2 wild-cards = 3 athletes. In this case there's a mistake in the tally since Cheng would be counted twice.

* 1 + 2 = 3 wild-cards + Cheng = 4 athletes = a relay. In this case why do they write 1+2 when it's actually simply 3 ? It was said that they could get 2 wild-cards if not in the top 10 of the IBUQP, so why 1+2 :mumble:

Look, only 11 quota via the IBUQP, and China does get further allocations via host-country (why and most of all how much ?)

Looks like they gave :CHN 3 host quotas.

It seems they „earned“ one plus 2 host quotas but then it is really totally unfair towards Croatia as @SalamAkhiwrote

as there were 12 qualifying places incl host quota and now there are 13

so either they give a quota to Croatia or take away one from KAZ, or it does not make sense!

No, it looks like they added two quotas beyond the limit of 105. There is precedent for this (Canada got 3 men's host quotas outside the normal qualification rules in 2010).

Yes seems to be the case. But to me that is unfair. The rules were clear and now China gets a present to qualify a relay. Why not saying from beginning the host has 4 quotas 🙄

Ok so they've got 2 extra-quota and can therefore field a relay.

https://www.biathlonworld.com/news/2022-olympic-games-qualifying/4Mg7ZORJkfP5zKX82xGBIp

IBU stated if China ended in top20, it's 105 total quotas. If China is out of top20, it's 107 total quotas to help China reach 4 quotas per gender and attend the relay. I also just surprisingly know it and searching the IBU document and news. It writes clearly in news but I don't find the lines in qualification document.

Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
