Can :NOR in M Individual and :SWE in W Individual enter 5 athletes in Beijing ? The rule about the extra-quota for the reigning olympic champion is still in place ?

In this case in both individuals we can have 93 starters, in the sprints 92 (20x4 + 12x1) Interesting JT Boe & H. Oeberg are the only 2 active Olympic champions from the individual events in PC 2018 (the others already retired Dahlmeier, Fourcade, Peiffer and Kuzmina)

So now when all this nerve-wracking qualification is finally over, let have a look thow it all ended

M

:NOR:FRA and :GER  will travel to Beijing with six men, and another seven countries will go with five. These will be :RUS:SWE:ITA:BLR:AUT:UKR and :CZE .

:SLO , :CAN , :SUI , :USA , :FIN , :LTU , :BUL , :BEL , :EST and :SVK can field each four competitors.

:JPN , :MDA and, with an exception, also host :CHN , earned two places through the IBU qualification points.  :LATBirkentals, :ROU Coltea, :POL Guzik, :KAZ Kiriyev, :KOR Lapshin and :NZL Wright will also travel to Beijing as sole representatives of their respective countries. :CRO Crnkovic remained the first under the line but his hope are not vompletely dead as there chances of refused quotas from previous NOCs (especially :NZL )

W

Among women, :NOR and :FRA can count on six competitors, as well as :SWE , five will represent :GER , :BLR , :RUS , :UKR , :AUT , :ITA and :CZE .       Four athletes will have :SUI , :USA , :POL , :CAN , :FIN , :EST , :CHN , :SVK , :JPN and :BUL .

:SLO , :KOR and :MDA won two places from IBU qualification points. One for :KAZ Vishnevskaya, :LAT Bendika, :ROU Ushkina, :LTU Kocergina, :BEL Lie, and 20-year-old Ukaleq Slettemark, who represents Greenland, has won a quota as well, but since the IOC does not recognize :GRL , so she will compete for :DEN

So we should have 20 classic relays for both men and women, and 21 in the Mixed Relay

Sadly, Lithuania, Belgium and Poland can not field a Mixed Relay because they qualified 4 + 1 athletes, but :SLO , :JPN and host :CHN will have 4 + 2 competitors, so they can start also in the Mixed relay. Same based on the qualification points for :MDA with two women and two men qualified.

No, this rule just for World Championships.

But in mass start any country can partipicate 5 athletes.

I know Guzik has been confirmed and Wright and Lapshin are obvious choices. But the quotas are not nominative. So for :LAT it could also be Patrijuks, for :ROU I guess Shamaev, Buta or Puchianu are possible choices, and Mukhin for :KAZ.

Same applies for the women, :LTU will probably send Lescinskaite.

Latvia will not have a male quota unless via reallocation

:mumble:

They removed the quota for Latvia since it was earned by Rastorgujevs.

They added :KAZ.

They removed the 2nd quota for China since it was not in the top 12, to give it via "host country places" (+1 another one).
So that's only 11 quota via the IBUQP, why is :CRO not included ?

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
