Table Tennis Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

it's weird that there is still nothing about East Asian Qualifier in either ITTF or ATTU website. I assume there won't be a separate tournament, they will either mix it with another tournament in the region. or just award the quotas to the best ranked athlete.

it's HKG or PRK for the men's quota and just PRK for the women's quota. MGL is there too but too weak to compete.

Honkong should take this, and they could take second quota (Baldwin/Lam) because one is so sure. But still Korea could make a suprise like in mix.

Fan Zhendong instead of Ma Long is crazy

Ma Long lost some unexpected matches, most recently in Arabia.

Probably cause of that.

I still disagree with that decision.

Now that the continental qualifiers are over, here's the situation for the final continental quotas.

On June 11th, the highest ranked eligible athlete from Africa, Asia, Europe and Pan America will get the quota. Here's what the top three look like.

Africa Men

19. :NGR Quadri Aruna

73. :SEN Ibrahima Diaw

118. :CGO Saheed Idowu

Africa Women

111. :ALG Lucie Mobarek

140. :ALG Lynda Loghraibi

183. :COD Ammadine Litobaka

Aruna pretty much has his spot locked up. The women's quota likely goes to Algeria.

Asia Men

42. :KAZ Kirill Gerassimenko

48. :HKG Chun Ting Wong

51. :IRI Noshad Alamiyan

Asia Women

117. :SGP Jingyi Zhou

164. :PRK Song Gyong Pyon

179. :MAS Alice Chang

The men's quota for Asia is quite competitive, but all three will qualify through the rankings. On the women's side the depth is pretty bare now that most of the top athletes have qualified. Singapore has a large lead to win a second quota.

Europe Men

38. :GBR Liam Pitchford

43. :ESP Alvaro Robles

49. :ROU Ovidiu Ionescu

Europe Women

16. :MON Xiaoxin Yang

20. :AUT Sofia Polcanova

44. :LUX Xia Lian Ni

Europe as usual is quite competitive at this stage. All of these athletes will qualify through the world rankings.

Pan America Men

54. :CHI Nicolas Burgos

74. :PUR Brian Afanador

78. :ECU Alberto Mino

Pan America Women

11. :PUR Adriana Diaz

122. :CAN Ivy Liao

127. :MEX Yadira Silva

Diaz is pretty much qualified. Burgos is in a good position too. Afanador and Mino could make a run, but at the same time they are in a decent position world rankings wise too.

The final quotas will be decided through the overall rankings on June 18th. Assuming the above continental qualifiers remains unchanged, the men's side will start with 9 quotas while the women will have 11. Note as quotas are awarded more will be reallocated due to duplicates between singles and mixed doubles.

Men

43. :ESP Alvaro Robles (reallocation)

48. :HKG Chun Ting Wong (reallocation)

49. :ROU Ovidiu Ionescu (reallocation)

51. :IRI Noshad Alamiyan

56. :AUT Daniel Habesohn

72. :ROU Eduard Ionescu

73. :SEN Ibrahima Diaw

74. :PUR Brian Afanador

78. :ECU Alberto Mino

79. :BEL Martin Allegro

81. :ITA Mihai Bobocica

84. :POL Maciej Kubik

------------------------

85. :HKG Siu Hang Lam

86. :PUR Daniel Gonzalez

91. :USA Jinbao Ma

92. :GBR Paul Drinkhall

93. :AUT Andreas Levenko

94. :SVK Lubomir Pistej

95. :BEL Cedric Nuytinck

98. :FIN Benedek Olah

I'm not 100% sure if the reallocation of the East Asia and Oceania quotas happen before or after the world ranking quotas. If before, then the East Asia quota will go to Hong Kong (Wong or Lam). If after, it could still go to Hong Kong (Lam), but should Lam make the cut-off then it will go to :MGL Temuulen Myandal, though with only four points I wouldn't be surprised if a North Korean player took the quota. The Oceania quota is currently in the hands of :FIJ Vicky Wu.

Women

20. :AUT Sofia Polcanova

44. :LUX Xia Lian Ni

56. :ITA Giorgia Piccolin

60. :ESP Maria Xiao (reallocation)

65. :SVK Tatiana Kukulkova

66. :HUN Georgina Pota

78. :CRO Ivana Malobabic

80. :SVK Barbora Balazova

81. :CZE Hana Matelova

84. :SRB Izabela Lupulesku

87. :UKR Solomiya Brateyko

94. :ITA Debora Vivarelli

-----------------------------

95. :HUN Dora Madarasz (reallocation)

104. :TUR Sibel Altinkaya

106. :LUX Sarah De Nutte

108. :NZL Jocelyn Lam

113. :NZL Zhehan Yang

116. :ESP Sofia-Xuan Zhang

117. :SGP Jingyi Zhou

119. :SUI Rachel Moret

The East Asia reallocation is currently going to :PRK Song Gyong Pyon.

Why Bobocica (81°) and not Stoyanov (67°)?

He make a world ranking from ITF instead of oltmpic Race To Paris on this websitw, ofcourse closer june 18 it will be the same. But Bobocica has good World Champs, expire in a few days.

    • Olivia Weaver was up 9-4 in the 5th game.  Hania El Hammamy  then scored 5 straight points to tie it up.  Then, took the lead with a sixth straight point, then won with a 7th straight point, taking the Sprott Tournament of Champions in New York.  Still, congrats to Weaver for bringing home second place!  (And congrats to El Hammamy...what a streak at the end!)
    • One thing working in our favor with Luge is that Women's Doubles is just one sled per NOC, so I like our chances there.  We'll be 3rd or 4th in the Relay (one of my favorite events)...if everyone slides cleanly, we'll probably be 4th, behind , , and ...but anything can happen in the relay.  (I think in my official predictions I had us 3rd.  Wishful thinking, I suppose.)
