Cate Campbell failed to qualify for the women's 100 free final.

Apparently she has been sick leading into trials but I think she was already trending the wrong direction earlier in the season.

Four x 52s in the women's 100m freestyle heats at Aussie trials and a PB for Wunsch. McKeon didn't look great.

:AUS Australian Olympic Trials: Day 5

Men's 200m Breaststroke (SAQT: 2:09.50, OQT: 2:09.68)

1. Zac Stubblety-Cook - 2:07.40 Q

2. Joshua Yong - 2:08.08 Q

3. Bailey Lello - 2:10.85

Women's 200m Breaststroke (SAQT: 2:23.91, OQT: 2:23.91)

1. Ella Ramsay - 2:22.87 Q

2. Jenna Strauch - 2:24.04

3. Matilda Smith - 2:25.84

Strauch misses the qualifying time here but she has the time already in the qualifying period so there's a good chance she'll still swim this event in Paris.

Men's 200m Backstroke (SAQT: 1:57.28, OQT: 1:57.50)

1. Bradley Woodward - 1:56.22 Q

2. Se-Bom Lee - 1:57.02 Q

3. Joshua Edwards-Smith - 1:57.10

Women's 100m Freestyle (SAQT: 53.61, OQT: 53.61)

1. Mollie O'Callaghan - 52.33 Q

2. Shayna Jack - 52.72 Q

3. Meg Harris - 52.97 q

4. Bronte Campbell - 53.10 q

5. Olivia Wunsch - 53.17 q

6. Emma McKeon - 53.33 q

7. Brianna Throssell - 53.61

8. Milla Jansen - 54.05

Fun race to watch but the times were a bit slower than I expected. Top 6 should all be selected. As mentioned already, Emma McKeon won't defend her Olympic title and may not even be part of the relay final.

Men's 1500m Freestyle (SAQT: 14:54.29, OQT: 15:00.99)

1. Matthew Galea - 14:58.96

2. Kyle Lee - 15:08.72

3. Benjamin Goedemans - 15:09.38

Sam Short scratched this event likely due to health reasons but he'll still get to swim this event since no one made the qualifying time here. Despite missing the Swimming Australia qualifying time, Matthew Galea still went under the OQT so he could be a discretionary pick.

Kick China out.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/14/world/asia/china-swimming-doping.html

‘The three Chinese athletes revealed to have tested positive earlier, in 2016 and 2017, were no ordinary swimmers: Two would go on to win gold medals at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, and the third is now a world-record holder. All three are expected to contend for medals again at the Paris Games in July.’

In its report, China even identified the three athletes by name: Wang Shun, who at the Tokyo Olympics became the second Chinese man to win an individual gold medal in swimming; Qin Haiyang, the current world-record holder in the 200-meter men’s breaststroke; and Yang Junxuan, who was 14 or 15 at the time of her positive test in 2017 but went on to win gold and silver medals at the Tokyo Games.

    • With the Group Stage done in the final stop of the Challenger Series season, we know majority of the teams qualified to LA to play for the promotion to the 2025-26 SVNS.     In the Men`s, ,  and  qualified to the SF so therefore they are also qualified for LA. The 4th spot will be between and . The points difference is 2 points in favour of Chile, but Samoa qualified for the SF and Chile not. If the points awarded in this tournament is the same as the rest of the other events (its not clear yet),  will need a 2 position advantage, meaning that if they win one of the two matches they have tomorrow they will go to LA, or if they lose both matches and Chile lose at least one out of the two. In the case Samoa lose both and Chile wins both, there would be a tie (and i dont know the criteria there really).     In the Women`s, ,  and  qualified to the SF so therefore they are also qualified for LA. The 4th spot will be between  and . Colombia has the huge advantage with a 8 points difference. Thailand qualified for the SF. This means that  needs a 4 position difference for a tie and 5 to win. If  wins their first match tomorrow and  not,  qualifies. In case  wins too, the next match of each team is crucial, Thailand needs to win and Colombia to lose.
