No way PNG wins that match, even less with Samoa's current level. But having the 4 Oceanians teams qualified through the World Series is not out of the picture. Rafa Maciel 1,594 Posted January 28, 2023 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2023 Arguably the best pool performance from Team GB we've seen so far this season to top the group. Unfortunately they just couldn't put together a decent quarter final and lost out to the USA so the highest they can now finish overall is 5th and even that is not guaranteed as they have been drawn against Australia in their 5th place semi-final. It's a bit of a shame as it means they have missed a great opportunity to close the gap on the fourth and final automatic Olympic qualification spot. Going into this weekend, there was a 10 point gap between GBR in 6th place and Ireland in fourth - with France sandwiched in-between. With Ireland making it through to the semi-finals, they will solidify their hold on the qualifying spot with only 3 more rounds of competition to go. Benolympique 2,398 Posted January 28, 2023 #14 Share Posted January 28, 2023 we know 80% of the 4 qualified countries : Great Britain has a small advantage against Spain for the European quota in June.
JoshMartini007 2,536 Posted January 28, 2023 #15 Share Posted January 28, 2023 The depth in women's rugby sevens is quite shallow. There's not much after the 11 core teams. Africa gets the 12th quota. I guess China also has a chance at taking the Asian quota from Japan. After that the next strongest nation (besides the currently banned Russia) is Poland which will likely have to go through Great Britain or Spain for the final quota. They’ll have the host bump, so hopefully that will help make things interesting at the European Games. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Cinnamon Bun 896 Posted January 28, 2023 #17 Share Posted January 28, 2023 Been very surprised at the performances of both men's and women's GB teams. We should make it to Paris in at least both EU qualifiers but not getting in via World Sevens route is embarrassing.

That's one of the reasons why England, Scotland and Wales combined

Cinnamon Bun 896 Posted January 28, 2023 #20 Share Posted January 28, 2023 We could be banking on a permanent change to rugby 9s from Brisbane 2032, a sport we're very successful in.
