Kimberly Williams didn't compete here, which is surprising, would have most likely reached the Olympic standard. The bigger problem was probably the wind gusts which we always seem to get when we are in Manchester and which begs the question why were the trials held there instead of in Birmingham. It's a sign of how far off the pace our athletes have fallen that no British man has the Budapest qualifying standard for the 800m. There is no getting away from the fact that when you take out the few world class sprinters we have, add in Kodgkinson and Muir, there isn't much depth to GB athletics at the moment. I believe there's still a couple weeks for those without standards to get them (recall the commentators saying how Jade Lally (I think it was her) can still get the discus QS) but it's not a good look at all considering how much depth we've had in events like the middle distance ones. The only conclusive answer to this is that the funding has let the athletes down, and that the British Swimming guy was only brought in to cut costs and not improve the performance of the team.
