That's a depressingly short list for :GBR

But at least on day 1 (I don't know about day 2) the conditions were terrible:

Was expecting more qualifying times in W TJ/W LJ/M LJ, and by Adele Tracey in W 800m. Kimberly Williams didn't compete here, which is surprising, would have most likely reached the Olympic standard.

I know it makes a great picture but actually the conditions weren't that bad across the weekend - the men's 100m final was probably the only race that took place in driving rain. The bigger problem was probably the wind gusts which we always seem to get when we are in Manchester and which begs the question why were the trials held there instead of in Birmingham.

It's a sign of how far off the pace our athletes have fallen that no British man has the Budapest qualifying standard for the 800m. There is no getting away from the fact that when you take out the few world class sprinters we have, add in Kodgkinson and Muir, there isn't much depth to GB athletics at the moment.

I believe there's still a couple weeks for those without standards to get them (recall the commentators saying how Jade Lally (I think it was her) can still get the discus QS) but it's not a good look at all considering how much depth we've had in events like the middle distance ones. The only conclusive answer to this is that the funding has let the athletes down, and that the British Swimming guy was only brought in to cut costs and not improve the performance of the team.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • What is happening in Canada , people leave it  They say life is very expensive , you cant find an appartement , the salary is miserable    is it the multi tax of Trump?
    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
