How many medals do you expect from your Nation at the 2020 Olympics? (Final Version)

5-6 medals for Romania

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

Anywhere between 15 and 35 would not be surprising :p

A ton of medal chances, but that includes a whole lot who are not necessarily the main favourite and could just as well finish 4th or 5th.

I am going to predict an average of 2 medals a day for GB so 32 in total.

I highly doubt we'll drop from 67 to 32.

well, some of our biggest medal chances failed to qualify (for different reasons) and we had very disappointing doping case in Karate which eliminated our world champion too. so once again it's up to wrestling to save our delegation.

but on the positive side we have a better wrestling team comparing to what I was expecting 2 years ago.

so I say 8 to 10.

to summarize things for Egypt i will categorize medal hopes for our athletes

  • High Hopes
  1. Giana Farouk - Karate
  2. Ferial Ashraf - Karate
  3. Ali el Sawy - Karate
  4. Ahmed el Gendy - MP
  5. Ahmed Hamed - MP
  6. Mohamed Ibrahim - Greco Roman Wrestling
  7. Azmy Mehelba - Shooting

  • Medium Hopes
  1. Seif Eissa - Taekwondo
  2. Abdelaziz Mehelba - Shooting
  3. Radwa Sayed - Karate
  4. Abdalla Abdelaziz - Karate
  5. Alaaeldin abouelkassem - Fencing
  6. Mixed Trap - Shooting
  7. Abdelatif Mohamed - Greco Roman Wrestling
  8. Men's Handball Team
  9. Hedaya Malak - Taekwondo
  • Small Hopes
  1. Showjumping team and individuals
  2. Abdelrahman Wael - Taekwondo
  3. Mohamed Amer - Fencing
  4. Ziad el Sisy - fencing
  5. ٌRamadan Darwish - Judo
  6. Mohamed Ali - Judo
  7. Men's Football Team
  8. Mostafa Amr - Athletics
  9. Ihab Abdelrahman - Athletics

Update of my prediction from earlier this year:

Archery: 0-1

Athletics: 0-3 (was 0-2)

Cycling road: 2-3 (was 1-2)

Cycling track: 3-5

BMX: 1-2

Mountainbike:

Field hockey: 1-2

Artistic gymnastics: (was 0-1)

Handball: (was 0-1)

Judo: 1-2

Rowing: 3-5

Sailing: 3-4

Swimming: 0-3 (was 0-2)

Suprise medal: 1-3

Total: 16-34 (was 15-33)

Changes:

  • Athletics: added Femke Bol
  • Cycling road: another women's cycling medal. I really think they could get 3 medals in 2 events, Van der Breggen, Van Vleuten, Vos and Vollering are unstoppable (except by Dychert).
  • Artistic gymnastics: removed Zonderland, I sadly don't see it happening anymore
  • Handball: removed women's team, their preparation has been messy and results in friendlies disappointing
  • Swimming: added a third potential medal for our contenders Kamminga (100m/200m breast) / Kromowidjojo (50m free)/ Weertman and Van Rouwendaal (10km open water)

    • poir Madsen had a very unlucky debut at the CWC he seriously injured himself (dislocated shoulder and possible concussion) in an attempt to save a boundary in the very early stages of Today' match vs Scotland   moreover, Italy lost badly against the Scots, allowing them to score 207 runs in the 1st innings (it took 14 overs to get the 1st wicket) and going well short chasing that score (we immediately saw that today wasn't the day when our lead batsman went out at the very 1st ball thanks to an amazing but improbable catch by a Scottish fielder)   in all this, a couple of highlights to be recorded: Hasan Ali with a very efficient bowling performance (5.25 economy, 1 wicket) and Harry Manenti with good 52 runs in just over 30 balls with the bat
    • The Italian team has already achieved a better result than the Chinese team in 2022 at home. The Italian team has made enormous progress since 2023, when we were still losing to Korea and Poland. Of course, this is mainly due to naturalizations, but China did the same. It's one of the few sports that have made significant progress before these Olympics and this is how it should be in most disciplines at home games.
