    I guess my worry is that with that setup the Olympics will always greatly overshadow everything else. I think that is somewhat supported by the fact that Dupont and Hooper want to get into their Olympic teams - I don't remember either rushing to get in the WC team. Obviously the 7s skillset isn't quite the same but I think that shows the mentality in the sport about how the various comps are perceived. I think at heart, I'm just an advocate for bigger fields in any sport. I realise that isn't practical but it just feels more romantic to have more teams having a shot. I can't really explain it any better.

    Easier to say who definitely won't be doubling based on the confirmed entries for British Diving Champs/Olympic Selection meet: Tom Daley won't be going in the individual 10m platform I don't think he has competed individually since his return, so this isn't a huge surprise. Anthony Harding isn't entered for the individual springboard event and neither is Scarlett Mew-Jensen so unless they apply for a late entry for the British Champs, they won't be doubling up either. For what it is worth, the winner of the individual events at the British Champs will be guaranteed selection is they hit required scores in both prelims and finals. The second sport is essentially at the discretion of the selectors with performances from Doha WC and the Diving world Cup being taken into account.

In cycling, Juan Luis Caorsi won the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay, and Eric Fagúndez finished third at the Vuelta a Asturias. In sailing, Hernán Umpierre and Fernando Diz won the Trofeo Princesa Sofía in Mallorca. In rowing, Uruguay got ten medals at the South American Championship, including two golds. In canoeing, Matías Otero won the Pan American Championship in K1 1000 m, and qualified to the Olympic Games.
