  2. I'm really happy that he finally won world title. One of my favourite players. In my mind is still this crazy semifinal against McGill in 2020.
  3. First of all the sevens qualifying system is great. It allows all the best teams to qualify but doesn't gaurantee them a quota. If a country like GB who are the 8/9th best team in the world is gauranteed a quota then there would be something very wrong with that qualifying system. Secondly the gap between any of these sevens teams really isn't very big, Uruguay/ Kenya are a lot closer to the GB/ South Africa/ USA tier than you might think and individual games come down to very fine margins, anyone can beat anyone on their day. Don't be shocked if Chile/ Canada/ Spain/ Tonga or maybe Uganda beat either GB or South Africa at the final qualifier although to be fair big events like qualifiers/ the world cup/ the olympic themselves tend to have significantly less variance than regular series events. Shocks do still happen though. (Basketball playoffs is probably a good comparison) Kenya beating South Africa wasn't that much of a shock though. South Africa's form in the buildup had been terrible. They have bounced back a bit this season but towards the end of last year's sevens series South Africa were really not that much better than Kenya. Finally, bro did you seriously just suggest GB should have beaten Ireland at European games? Like really? That final wasn't even particularly close. You nearly lost to Germany in the quarter final of that tournament which would have meant you wouldn't even be at the final qualifer, Germany bottled it but they had the ball in your 22 down 4 at the end of that game.
  4. Seider (insurance) and Larkin (injury) both out.
  5. Well, Pieleshenko was banned for doping for 8 years (until 2026) so it's not like we'd seen him in sports anymore. The ban was so long since he was banned for stanozolol for 2 years before already.

  7. Not to be *that* person, but it was a 3hr gap between those 2 races (mixed heat started 19:16, men's heat started 22:22). So still a short gap but not quite as short as an hour! I think, in retrospect, India were *very* unlucky in the men's 4x4 on day 1. Not because of the injury to Ramesh as such but the draw. You ended up in a heat which had the only sub 3 min runs of the day. Obviously with your pedigree in the event in recent years you would have stood a chance to match those times if your guys were on form but it would have been a very tough race in any scenario.

  9. In swimming, 13-year-old Hanna Arias qualified to the Paralympic Games in S9 100 m freestyle and butterfly. In cycling, Juan Luis Caorsi won the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay, and Eric Fagúndez finished third at the Vuelta a Asturias. In sailing, Hernán Umpierre and Fernando Diz won the Trofeo Princesa Sofía in Mallorca. In rowing, Uruguay got ten medals at the South American Championship, including two golds. In canoeing, Matías Otero won the Pan American Championship in K1 1000 m, and qualified to the Olympic Games. In boxing, former Bellator fighter Gastón Reyno will debut in boxing against Ezequiel Vallejos. In rugby union, the Teros will host test matches against France, Argentina and Scotland.
  10. That's true. Those were wonderful times and not just because I was young and life was simpler.

  13. The CIJF annouced some program chnages for the 2027 Jeux de la Francophonie. Link: https://www.jeux.francophonie.org/actualites/nouveautes-erevan-2027 Theater will be added to the artistic disciplines, while 3x3 Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Breaking, weightlifting, and chess (team) will included as part of the sports program. Judo, Table Tennis, Football (men's team) and athletics (including para events) retain a spot on the program as well. It would appear that basketball (women's team), road cycling, wrestling, and african wrestling have been dropped from the sports program. not choosing to retain wrestling is a bit of a surprise in my opinion.
  14. I think Al Ghotany is still given the invitational places to Olympics for Refugee Olympic Team since his name is included in the athlete list in Refugee Olympic Team. But the quota given to him is an invitational quota but not the quota from Asian Qualifier. And the Asian Qualifier quota is given to . So one more quota is given out. I think the reason why Abbasi is not given the quota is because he is not a real refugee so the quota taken by the Refugee Olympic Team is disqualified since the athlete is not eligible for the NOC. So a reallocation is given to the bronze medalist but an invitational quota is still given to Refugee Team
  15. Abbasi lost his quota since he is not real refugee Quota go to another refugee and !
  16. That's a good question because we didn't know yet. Last cycle our federation did the very late exchange of quota from Oleksandr Petriv, who was injured, to Serhiy Kulish. So for us, it's a mystery, at least for now.
  17. WOW ! Gold and Bronze for Egypt in the same day , impressive plus its our 1st Gold medal ever in a Fencing Grand prix
