LuizGuilherme reacted to Dolby in Men's Football FIFA World Cup 2022
Football popularity in India can be broken in 2-3 different groups. First, the traditional football strongholds in India: Kerala/West Bengal/Goa and North East. These regions have been the bedrock of Indian football since a long time and Football World Cup is a big deal there. Normally, you would find a lot of Brazil/Argentina fans in these regions. Also, a lot of Indians in Qatar/Middle East are from the Indian state of Kerala which is crazy about football.
Second and newer group of football fanatics are the EPL/Champions League watchers in urban areas. I don't have numbers but viewership of EPL in India is quite high. And, in the recent past, I have seen that not only is this new generation consuming football and part of the online fan groups of various clubs, but is also contributing to fan driven data/tactic analysis. And in recent past with ease of following other leagues as well, other European leagues are also getting a foothold in India.
And third group would be the followers of Indian football, outside the traditional regions in group 1. Those who follow Indian team and ISL.
First 2 groups are excited about the World Cup. But, it is the usual excitement and not insane hype. There is not much media coverage or ad campaigns regarding WC. Normal Indian sports fan is more excited about the India-NZ T20 series but there is still a significant group which is excited about Football World Cup. And obviously, those who are residing in Qatar or other Gulf states, are really excited about the World Cup as for them it is almost like a home World Cup.

The problem is not the time or the place, it's the f'n calendar being crammed to 200%. It's unbelievable how all the leagues are still going one week before the start of the WC.
There is just no break for the fans to get excited... And everything was enhanced in the last months so they can get as many matches in and not "disrupt" the leagues. They should have ended them last week at least to have a 2 week break before the start, but no.. There are just to many matches and the special ones are getting less and less.

And here is Team Poland. The fat idiot realized that four GK make no sense despite what he said last week. The only questionable call is old timer Jędrzejczyk over Bochniewicz but it's a bench warmer at CB. No place for annoying Reca & Puchacz who have done next to nothing in NT.

LuizGuilherme reacted to Griff88 in [POLL] - Who will win the 2022 FIFA World Cup?
Hmmm I just realized how detached I was from football these few years (yesterday I triple checked the group list looking for Italy and realized they're not there )
Supporting my traditional favorite team as usual, and hoping advance as far as possible

Wales need to change their name because they are sick of constantly being mixed up with Wallonia in Belgium, Valais Canton in Switzerland, the no longer existant country of Transvaal and the town Vaals in Limburg.
Now, as Cymru they will only be mixed up with the county of Cumbria in England, the island of Cumbrae in Scotland and the Cambrian geological epoch.

Congratulations Brazilians for booting Bolso out. It probably won’t be an easy term for Lula with the parliament composition and the damage done in the last 4 years, but yeah at least the main target is out

As a fun fact, Bolso was heavily supported by Neymar in this election, who did multiple posts in social media and even appeared in a live feed of the president. Now people are joking that Neymar will never win something important (Ballon d'or, World Cup title, or the election).

Not at all, I would say that although many of his followers are "extremists", I would like to believe there are also good people in the mix. But evangelicals in Brazil (about 80% votes for him) can't see anything past religion, which is sad.

I would say most of his supporters don't really care about the economy, education, public health and such, but only his morals, since he is "pro-family" and has "christian values". A simple google search shows that he's not such things, but nothing he does will be able to convince his supporters otherwise. It's staggering that 58mi people voted for him, but I'm relieved that this nightmare had ended (for now...)

This is fantastic. For me, I can sort of understand people who vote for Bolsonaro because they are strongly against Lula, or because they have their economic reasons or something. No way I would, but reasons like that I can kind of understand.
What I seriously can't understand though is people who vote for him because of ethical reasons, or his non-existent morals. I don't know enough to make a judgment on his economic agenda and stuff like that, but people who vote for him because of his morals and such? No thanks, I can't really think of a more despicable human being among significant politicians.

Thanks my brasilian friends for make this election for me a bit closer. I am so happy that your country chose someone instead of Bolso ..

93% of counted votes, Lula leads 50,60-49,40. Closer election ever (but Lula still will get some votes).
If confirmed, Bolsonaro is the first president in 25 years not to be re-elected, a testament to his terrible government.

well I rarely comment about internal politics in other countries. just because I'm not familiar (except 2 or 3 of our neighbors)
but it is simply hard to not hate Bolsonaro. You don't have to know everything about politics in Brazil to realize that.
