  1. 2021 Men’s and Women’s World Championships expanded to 14 teams.
  2. That’s on the FIG and Gymnastics community more than the IOC really. I get that people like the 5 athletes per team format, but that a easy and simple place to cut quotas. There aren’t very many team events in individual sports where you can qualify three athletes for a team, plus two “reserves/substitutes” (I know the they still compete and score points, I’m just not sure what to refer to 4 and 5 as, since you only technically need 3 gymnasts to form a team).
  3. Right, but it’s important to remember that we also have to consider that 500-600 quotas need to be cut from the Olympic program. It’s also my personal feeling that Gymnastics is already somewhat privileged position when it comes to quotas. This is how I’d revise the gymnastics program. 6 WAG + 2 RG + 1 TR = 9 women’s events 8 MAG + 1 TR = 9 men’s events Rhythmic Gymnastics would get a new team event similar to the Artistic Gymnastics Team All-Around event. Each team would be formed by 2 gymnasts, and final score is the combined total of the gymnasts score in Individual All-Around Qualification. Quota Distribution: AR - 74 W / 104 M RG - 30 W TR - 16 W / 16 M Quota Different from Tokyo2020 to Paris2024: - 50 Qualification Systems: Women’s Artistic Gymnastics - 48 Quotas: 12 teams (4 gymnasts) from the World Championships 8 Quotas: Individual All-Around from the World Championships 4 Quotas: World Championships - Individual Event Finals (best placed athlete in each event from a non-qualified NOC) 3 Quotas: Top 3 gymnasts at the All-Around World Cup series4 Quotas: Overall winners in each apparatus at the World Cup series1 quota: Host nation1 quota: Tripartite invitation1 quota: Asian Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: European Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: Oceania Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: Pan American Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: African Championships - All-Around competition Men’s Artistic Gymnastics - 48 Quotas: 12 teams (4 gymnasts) at the World Championships12 Quotas: World Championships - All-Around competition18 Quotas: World Championships - Event Finals (if quotas remain after EFs, give them to AA)8 Quotas: Top 8 gymnasts at the All-Around World Cup series6 Quotas: Overall winners in each apparatus at the World Cup series1 quota: Host nation1 quota: Tripartite invitation2 quotas: Asian Championships - All-Around competition2 quotas: European Championships - All-Around competition2 quotas: Oceania Championships - All-Around competition2 quotas: Pan American Championships - All-Around competition2 quotas: African Championships - All-Around competition Rhythmic Gymnastics - 16 Quotas: 8 teams (2 gymnasts) at the World Championships4 Quotas: World Championships - All-Around competition3 Quotas: Top 3 gymnasts at the All-Around World Cup series1 quota: Host nation1 quota: Tripartite invitation1 quota: Asian Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: European Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: Oceania Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: Pan American Championships - All-Around competition1 quota: African Championships - All-Around competition Trampoline - (Same for Men and Women) 8 Quotas: World Championships*1 quotas: Top gymnast at the World Cup series*1 quota: Host nation1 quota: Tripartite invitation1 quota: Asian Championships1 quota: European Championships1 quota: Oceania Championships1 quota: Pan American Championships1 quota: African Championships * = Reallocation criteria. NOCs can only qualify one gymnast for the OG. All 8 finalists from the World Championships qualify, unless they would be the second or more gymnasts from their nation. In the case there are quotas left after all eligible finalists have received a quota, then the quota is reallocated using the World Cup series standings. So, that’s my proposal. What do you think?
  4. Nah, Trampoline needs at least 16 quotas or it’s a farce event. Honestly, the field is already weak enough there under the current system.
  5. Yeah, to the complete shock of absolutely no one, @dezbee2008 and me seem to be anti-establishment
  6. Is anyone else getting this infolinks shit? It looks like a virus...
  7. This is from 2016, but it stills feels very relevant after that first debate.
  8. This is my main problem with the IOC’s plan for gender equality. We shouldn’t be eliminating men’s events and quotas in order to add women’s events. We should just add the women’s events. Would that make the Olympics bigger? Yes. Higher costs? Possibly. But it would have been the correct way to go about gender equality. There’s a lot of institutional reform the IOC could make if they really wanted to cut cost too.
  9. I believe it’s open to all countries at this point. I have two playlists I keep if you want them. I was rewatching the Games for a while towards the end of summer, but then school work got in the way.
  10. Yes, but I think people would just be happy to have Brazil in the contest at this point
  11. Perhaps @heywoodu could convince the lovely @brunamoura to join on behalf of Brazil?
  12. Well if we are in desperate need of a British entry, I can extend an invitation to @Dragon
  13. Good point.
  14. I received my official mail-in ballot today. Like always, California has worked to ensure open, easy, and secure voting. All eligible voters at the first deadline to register were sent a mail-in ballot in order to be able to vote safely from home. Voters may cast their mail-in ballots in a multitude of ways. They can mail them in, drop them off at designated location (dropbox), or drop them off at their polling center during the in-person voting period. If you were to make a mistake on your mail-in ballot, you can go to your in-person polling center and have that ballot voided, and then be allowed to vote in person. All registered voters are also given the option of voting in-person if they wish to do so. Of course, you may not submit two ballots. There is no official deadline to register for in-person voting in California. You may register at your polling center on Election Day, or during the preceding election period. There are 6 candidates on the ballot in California for President of the United States: American Independent - Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente Guerra Democrat - Joe Biden Green - Howie Hawkins Libertarian - Jo Jorgensen Peace and Freedom - Gloria La Riva Republican - Donald Trump There will be 11 propositions on the ballot in California. 5 would be amendments to the California Constitution, the longest constitution in the world. All Californians will be asked to elect a US House Representative, a State Senator, and a State Assembly Member.
  15. I did read that the gap between when the UN accepted South Sudan and now, is the longest period in which the UN has gone without admitting a new member. I do believe that Bougainville’s independence will be recognized at some point in the future, but for now, no new members will be admitted. I heard rumors that one of the FSM states and one of the Solomon Islands will hold independence votes from their respective nations too. Edit: Chuuk’s referendum has been delayed for a third time to 2022, so that vote probably won’t ever happen. The Solomon Islands issue is new, so it’s just a small political spat at the moment.
  16. The season premier of SNL was a little bit of a let down. We do get, what I think, may well become an iconic moment in American television.
  17. Chris Wallace claims that Trump arrived too late to the debate to be tested, and participated anyways.
  18. Trump has been transported to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. It was reported that he was experiencing “mild symptoms” before being transported. For now, the 25th Amendment has not been invoked.
