  1. ATHLETICS - Women's 400m Hurdles 1. Marina Stepanova URS FR1 53.67 2. Yekaterina Fesenko-Grun URS FR2 54.42 3. Nawal El Moutawakel MAR 54.61 LA1 4. Margarita Ponomaryova URS 54.65 FR3 5. Judi Brown USA 55.20 LA2 6. Genowefa Błaszak POL 55.35 FR4 7. Cristieana Cojocaru ROM 55.41 LA3 8. P.T. Usha IND 55.42 LA4 No gold for El Moutawakel here But still bronze for her at least PS. Did you remember India lost a medal in this event in LA by 0.01 sec??? I didn't...
  2. Correction: obviously M 400m IM was on day 2 in Tokyo as well, it was the 1st swimming finals session but it was on day 2 in the morning because of NBC. anyway, you are right. Boukli is definitely a contender in W -48kg and there should be many medals in judo for FRA but I think they will have bigger chances in next days in this sport though...
  3. This day 1 schedule is not good for France. It won't be easy for them to get a gold on Day 1. In Tokyo there was Men's 400m Ind Medley on Day 1...
  4. 4th places Day 1 1. SWIMMING - Men's 400m Freestyle - Felix Auboeck AUT (T) 2. SWIMMING - Women's 400m Freestyle - Bella Sims USA (T) 3. SWIMMING - Men's 4x100m Freestyle - Australia (T) 4. SWIMMING - Women's 4x100m Freestyle - China (T) 5. RUGBY SEVENS - Men's Tournament - Ireland (T) 1 1 1 1 1
  5. Ranking of 4th places will be here soon ;-) (I will try to count them just to check how many of them goes to Canada ;-)
  6. Last poll of Day 1 These are sports I don't follow much So I'm waiting for your words of wisdom here Have I missed any favourites or dark horses?
  7. Rumours here are : yes
  8. Surely I am. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for your vote, anyway! It looks that it wouldn't change the final outcome of this poll if you voted on time (if I have counted it right). No worries then. Greetings!
  10. In men's TT I voted for Remco because I have a feeling double gold in road events is possible for him 2. Foss 3. Ganna I don't know much about women's cycling so I voted for current WCH van Dijk But now I would change my vote - I know it's not possible though. I think now there is a chance that a young Guazzini will improve enough to get a gold already in Paris Anyway, my official picks are 1. van Dijk 2. Guazzini 3. van Vleuten
  11. I would like to vote for Yulia Lipnitskaya here, because her Sochi "Schindler's List" performance was so moving (some family reasons, nevermind...). But it's not possible. So I think Baiul is quite obvious choice then 2. Kim 3. Witt
  12. oh.. we had a situation like this before in women's eights (rowing) imaginary series poll. One of our most active users voted for USA but he wannted to vote for ROU And we decided that we will count the exact votes :-((( that vote went for USA and sadly it was a decesive thing for the whole poll. If that vote went for ROU, the final results would be 1. ROU 2. USA and that would be 1st gold for ROU other than Comaneci in those series :-( but KOR is strong in shooting so maybe in July 2024 it will turn out you are actually right !!!! greetings!
  13. https://www.amazon.de/München-72-Ein-deutscher-Sommer/dp/3421048754 what a great book this is! got it few days ago, my German is rather weak, so I need a lot of help from Google Translate, and it takes so much time, but it's worth reading really! Strongly recommend it
  14. Other active polls these days: Paris 2024 - Very Early Predictions - Poll #4 - Cycling Road - Men's Individual Time Trial; Cycling Road - Women's Individual Time Trial IMAGINARY WINTER OLYMPICS - Poll #3 - Figure Skating - Women's IMAGINARY SUMMER OLYMPICS - Poll #46 - Athletics - Women's 800m; Fencing - Men's Team Foil; Judo - Women's Half Heavyweight; Taekwondo - Men's Featherweight (-68kg); Weightlifting - Women's Super Heavyweight Link in my signature ofc
  15. 1. If you choose "any other" you can write about your choice in the comments obviously. 2. In diving - favourite is rather obvious I think. So you can write in the comments who will get silver and bronze if you like. 3. In shooting - please correct me if I'm wrong - 2 teams from the same NOC can participate in this event. If you think there will be 2 medals for the same NOC here you can write it in the comments as well obviously. 4. You can write in the comments anything you want actually. Any advice, any suggestions, whatever. 5. Few people here told me that they don't like that I tag them in the polls so I stopped doing that. But if anyone wants to be tagged to get to know about a new poll, please tell me. 6. Anyway, it looks like in 2023 i will have much more work than in 2022 so there will be probably less polls then. Maybe it's a good news, I don't know, time will tell. Merry Christmas, everyone!
  16. Merry Christmas, everyone! all the best wishes for everybody here let’s enjoy this site together on the road to Paris and beyond!
  17. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_in_sports Things I wait for the most in 2023: (early thoughts) January – Iga Świątek winning 1st Australian Open Singles Tournament in her career February – Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel winning a GS medal in Alpine Skiing WCH March – A good performance of Team POL in European Indoor Athletics CH April – thrilling competition in Golf Masters, Augusta May – nothing related to olympics actually, so some entertaining F1 races instead – wet race in Monaco? June – hope that 2023 European Games will be more entertaining than I think now July – swimming at world acquatics CH as a whole August – world athletics CH as a whole, but my biggest fun would be Sofia Ennaoui medal in 1500m September – not olympic sports this time but – Rugby WC October – Rugby WC ctd. November - ??? December - ???. Maybe POL team playing well at women’s handball WCH
