  1. Oh well, I'm sure for 2026 a solution will be found, and other than that Italy isn't doing that bad without an oval recently in terms of results. There's no Fabris of course, but he was as next-level as next-level can get, but generally they seem to be doing pretty well. Inzell isn't that far away, in the end I know the rules say they can't, so they won't and therefore it's not a realistic suggestion, but still the best would have been to do the Olympic races in Baselga or Collalbo....without a roof
  2. Well that is some fantastic news I had missed Seeing Inzell be turned into another default indoor hall was enough
  3. Another multi-event where schedules aren't easy to find... https://www.eyof2023.it/competition-training/ There is a schedule there, but it's only on a daily basis, and doesn't show any times whatsoever. Anyone knows whether a better one is available anywhere? Surely by now, three weeks before the event, the times are known?
  4. The quarter finals have started today, and in the first one, Dimitri van den Bergh beat Jonny Clayton to become the first Belgian semifinalist in history.
  5. Bwoh, heavy-headed morning Anyhow, a little over half an hour ago Baker Island joined us in 2023, so now 2022 is behind us on every corner of the planet. Thank god, see you never again
  6. He's a darts player, so also the normal looking Belgian is getting fatter every year
  7. I would absolutely like that as well, because sports atmosphere in Africa is usually insanely awesome (especially when it's in the middle, so not in the far north or south of the continent). However, 2036 might be too early, considering every single time there's a big event in Africa, there's still all kinds of organization problems, hosts suddenly deciding to not host after all and all kinds of other hosting-related problems... Let's first see a more or less flawless Africa Games and such
  8. Diggins out, 40th. Urevc 44th, Carl 57th, very disappointing. Weng 53rd, which is less surprising, but still painful. Karlsson with a very impressive 5th place, she's ready for the classification. Fähndrich impressive again, and a strong 3rd place for young Märta Rosenberg. And yeah, impressive debut for Sanfilippo
  9. In the US you can get your hunting gear as well at the Kiri Bass Pro Shop
  10. Do that Mike Dixon and the other guy on Eurosport's English commentary ever do cross-country skiing outside of the Tour de Ski? They really sound like those stereotypical English Eurosport commentators, with 90% of the commentary being those super generic fact-sheet things like almost all of those English Eurosport commentators during the Olympics "It's all about the power and about keeping the speed now!" Yeah, duh.
  11. Former pope Benedict XVI has died this morning. It's not like I've followed those things a lot, but a quick read suggests he didn't exactly help in making the world a better place...Francis seems to be doing a better job at that. Anyhow, rest in peace.
  12. Even as an avid athletics follower, I have to kind of force myself to watch the marathon at the world championships, whereas Berlin, London etc are simply the much bigger events and easier to follow. I honestly think you are underestimating how big the large city marathons are Marathon = city marathons, basically. The rest is a nice aside, even the Olympics aren't that much bigger (if they even are bigger).
  13. As usually these days in the evening (and afternoon): darts
  14. To be fair, in marathon, races like Berlin are the big events, certainly not world championships But yeah, Kipchoge. Another of those athletes that makes me think "Right, that's true!"
  15. I know there's not really much happiness in regards to Bolsonaro, but with a little over one day of presidency to go, it looks like he has fucked right off to the other Fallen President in Florida for some sort of Sore Loser's New Year's Eve The presidental plane left 40 minutes or so ago, presumably of course with Bolsonaro on board (although that hasn't yet been confirmed). Surely it will have nothing to do with legal trouble which might start the literal second he isn't president anymore
  16. I've been wondering, what exactly is the purpose of replacing a pursuit with a same-distance mass start? How does it save anything? If you can use a shorter track for a mass start, surely you can do the same for a pursuit, so that makes no difference. Plus in a pursuit, there's the wave start at say 4 minutes or so, so there will be a maximum of what, 10 minutes more in which an athlete is on track? That shouldn't make too much of a difference.. But yeah, 10-12 degrees for Oberstdorf the days after tomorrow, not as awful as it was for the 2021 world championships, but it's not promising...
  17. "Who the hell is that?", a question I ask myself with dozens of nominees

  19. Question: for the Olympic spirit award, do athletes count who qualified for the Olympics, but couldn't compete due to bad luck and such? Or do they have to have had an actual start?
  20. Only recently got to know more about what kind of a person he was outside of football by the way. A shame I came across that so shortly before his death, because now he's in my mind as a rather shitty person so I'll try to look at him as a great football player and nothing more or less
