  1. The New Zealand Cycle Classic disagrees with you, after having the 4th stage today
  2. Second place starting 2:05 minutes after the winner of the ski jumping in the Nordic combined And it's not even the women's event
  3. No goodbye podium for the Kugelblitz Still, what a massive career, hopefully he can end it in style on the Streif!
  4. Teams can and sometimes do withdraw from relays, you're perfectly allowed to do so. Usually those are the lower-ranked teams, such as Bendika taking some rest and so the Latvian single mixed relay having a DNS last week, or Belgium that sometimes has a full team and sometimes doesn't. There's no reason why the top teams can't do the same if they wish.
  5. Sweden of all teams having nobody else left, damn. Still should be a very solid podium candidate of course. If Öberg had said that a bit earlier, surely they could have let someone come over from Pokljuka's IBU Cup team...
  6. Noriaki Kasai is alive! This morning at the Continental Cup he had his first competition as a 50-year old! Sure, 37th, but still! And tomorrow he can go again, twice even! #roadtocortina2026 https://medias3.fis-ski.com/pdf/2023/JP/3248/2023JP3248RL.pdf
  7. women beat 31-25 in terms of shots on goal, yet lost 2-8 in terms of, you know, actual goals
  8. Most homeruns by one player in the MLB?
  9. It must be amazing to be able to get in some sort of trance in such a way that you can totally zone out and keep running for 24 hours The feeling of total exhaustion and pride afterwards though must be even more incredible! We'll never find out
  10. Most consecutive shooting bouts with 5 hits?
  11. Very impressive Japanse win in the cross-country skiing mixed team sprint. Didn't see that coming, at least not in that fashion
  12. Well this is a nice and confusing schedule for the weekend alpine skiing. Four super-G's, one of which being cancelled, two of which being the speed portion of the combined, and a separate men's super-G?
  13. Don't forget to copy the previous ranking and add the new point, but here it is for now Cool that so far every single point went to someone else hckosice - 1 heywoodu - 1 Olympian1010 - 1 ChandlerMne - 1 Belle - 1 Gianlu33 - 1
  14. Mongolian avoided being lapped by a few seconds!
  15. And the lady being the slowest of all the young Thai ladies who competed in South Korea recently. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&competitorid=270212&raceid=42364
  16. So make that 21 nations Still not bad of course. And lovely winter weather!
  17. That looked like a very nasty injury for Franzoni Not even a hard crash in terms of speed, but it looked like he got into the netting very unfortunately, kind of looked like it snapped his leg back....
  18. And Klingenthal, which was supposed to start today, has been postponed. You know, no snow. Fuck this winter.
  19. Alex Ferlazzo with the first ever Australian Nations Cup win today in Sigulda!
  20. Oh wow, what a massively deserved win for Iran against Chile last night! Iran was about to be absolutely robbed after a total bullshit 2-minute send-off with 9 minutes to go and then seeming to lose it afterwards (being three points behind all of a sudden), but they fought back and even got the win Fantastic spirit.
  21. Well yeah, there aren't really a lot more 6 shorttrack skaters, 1 biathlete, 1 snowboarder, 1 speed skater and 1 alpine skier. I mean, technically that means two handfuls of athletes, and I don't know how many were at the opening ceremony (also no idea who competes today, so those can be counted out probably), but there were definitely not a lot more options
  22. And definitely the best World Cup result ever for blood! In biathlon, that is, obviously there have been a whole bunch of podiums and wins in alpine skiing by now.
  23. Start list for today's cross-country team sprint: https://lakeplacid2023-pdf.microplustimingservices.com/WU2023/CCS/2023-01-12/CCSXTEAMSP2-----------SFNL--------__C51F_1.0.pdf Spain with a decent team, Norway with Magnus Boø, who competed for South Korea until Pyeongchang (as Magnus Kim, I believe). For me the most-known name though is Switzerland's Malia Elmer, who was part of the local Swiss team which immensely helped Bruna at the final qualifying races for the Olympics in Switzerland, almost exactly a year ago now! They happened to be in the same hotel as the one where she was all alone, she saw some boots in front of a door so just decided to knock and hope for the best, and they ended up taking her to the races and having their wax guy wax her skis better than they had ever been waxed I had no idea she was competing there, go Malia!
