  1. Good evening, afternoon and morning! On another forum, someone opened a thread with a game which seemed like fun, and even more so on a forum like Totallympics, with enthousiasts from all over the world and a wide variety of sports: Guess the Record! The rules are rather simple: 1. Someone posts a sports-related record. This may be an officially recognized world record, it may be the highest number of wins in some sport, the fastest ever goal, you get the point. 2. Others try to figure out which record it is. It doesn't have to include the owner of the record, but of course it would be fun if you know those things as well. Main thing is that you get correct which record it is. 3. The user who gets it correct first (as judged by the person who posted the record) gets a point, and can post a different record as described in point 1, preferably also updating the score table. If it takes several hours for the 'winner' to post a new record, someone else can step in and post one. Obviously the point is to not search for it online. If you search for the record, we will most likely never know, but you will have to live with the guilt of being a cheater. The person who posted the record is free to post some hints if it takes too long, at his or her own discretion. Game on! And to get it going, I'll start with a simple one: 9,58 seconds
  2. That sounds excellent. Although not as excellent as the early Tours where there was also a great A-to-B-race
  3. Wow, holidays even? Like one day? We wouldn't even have that if the World Cup football is in the Netherlands
  4. Curious what Greek users say about this, since most things I'm reading seem to point towards him trying a coup against the junta/dictatorship, but with no success, and then being kicked out of the country. You made it sound like he welcomed a dictator with open arms or something Very curious how Greeks see this situation though, they definitely know more about it than my five minutes of online reading
  5. Well that's fine, nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree Mostly let's just hope all the mentioned sports stay on and we don't need this entire discussion of 'should X or Y go out?' at all.
  6. Oh I have no interest in men's football remaining in the Olympics Fine for women, but a junior event...no thanks. But to be fair, if modern pentathlon needs the Olympics to basically keep existing, modern pentathlon might not be an interesting enough sport in a broad sense...and yes, I know that goes for more sports. Anyhow, I don't hope modern pentathlon will be out of the Olympics. I hope it stays, there isn't really any sport of which I genuinely hope it will be out, I just have sports I'd prefer more than others if, gun to the head, choices need to be made.
  7. Good chance there'll be some teams very willing to help I guess. For the bigger teams it would take maybe 15 minutes extra for a good waxer to prepare this guy's skis in a decent manner, and I doubt they'll see him as a threat Besides that, if you're in his kind of situation, you really also need to learn how to wax skis yourself. Even if at some point you make it into a bigger team, knowing how waxing works and what to do, what to avoid and which things to pay attention to is an incredibly valuable skill to have.
  8. To be fair, if they need to kick out a sport, it wouldn't be unfair to have modern pentathlon be the one on the chopping block. Not saying it should go, but gun to the head to choose one sport, I'd go with that one, probably. Well, breakdancing, but I mean in terms of sports which have already been Olympic instead of sports which will make their debut soon
  9. And it was all put perfectly in tune with the music as well, bad moments in the slower/sadder parts, winning moments in the upbeat parts and everything
  10. But it still can't beat any federation or event that streams their competitions on YouTube (and puts them up on-demand after that) The Chromecast thing is promising though, but as long as it's reasonably easy to watch it on-demand and spoiler-free (and they have the basic hotkeys like skipping X seconds ahead) I'm perfectly happy
  11. That Eitrem vs Roest 10k will go down in history for sure! And awesome to see Norway being back in the top of the allround world with someone who is both young AND makes it very clear his heart is 100% with allrounding
  12. I hope so! I'm not kidding when I say this could easily be one of those end-of-year videos national broadcasters show in some late December/early January overview of the year.
  13. Absolutely! I don't think there is one place on internet that's best for everything (for example for me, the main Dutch forum is better for something like darts or F1 simply because during the events it often goes in a pace of several posts per minute), but Totallympics definitely is by far the best overall place in terms of following a wide variety of sports all over the world (to mention the Dutch forum again, no way you'd get people there talking about luge or Nordic combined or a whole variety of other sports which are definitely at least kind of active here!). There's a reason Totallympics is basically one of only two sites I definitely always have as an open tab
  14. Good luck trying to convince us you edited that yourself, wow
  15. Happy to see though, it would have been way, way, way too mainstream to have Messi as the big winner
  16. I wonder who (but deserved of course, I don't follow ice hockey enough to really know, but from what I'm reading he is truly a remarkable athlete!)
  17. And that's only half of how incredible her career is, she is also a 7-time world allround champion (plus five more medals, tying the all-time record of 12 medals in an event in which one can only win one medal per year) and an incredible 15-time single distance world champion (although personally I'd say the allround golds mean more). Truly legendary athlete.
  18. Belgium getting a 10th place after Langer's unfortunate situation is by far the performance of the day Fantastic shooting as well, using only two extra rounds. The closest team in terms of shooting is Poland, which used more than double: five spare rounds. Truly great job, and in the end the fall cost them maybe two and maximum three positions. Cloetens and Lie saved the day! You know, if they don't get DQ'ed for the safety issue.
  19. Krüger might still be a small danger for Klaebo. Probably not, but Klaebo definitely can't hold too much back.
  20. Yeah, Swedish media quoted a team manager as saying she was awake and talking with medics, and drinking blueberry soup to recover Insane how deep she must have gone. Success or not, that alone deserves major respect.
  21. Anna Dyvik and Moa Ilar chasing away the way too curious camera from Karlsson, very well done by them, protecting their teammate! 7-8 minutes later and Karlsson is still being tended to by a big group of people.
  22. Karlsson has really discovered some new limits and gone way beyond it today, damn. Starting to look a little worrying there.
