  1. It's always cute when these multi-events pretend to really know something about the sports themselves, you'll end up getting generic nonsense like this text "Known as the middle distance for women and a sprint for men" Uhm, no. Not at all Meanwhile, still not a readable competition schedule on the website, with only two weeks to go.
  2. I know Eurosport is known for having an international group of experts, with not always the very best English, and that's all totally fine because it makes it feel nicely international instead of just English...but Francesca Marsaglia is apparently their newest addition and she kind of sets a new level of being hard to understand Seems like a good addition, generally speaking, but I do hope she will get some lessons in English pronunciation..
  3. During an interview at the bottom of the Super-G course, right after the course inspection. Wow. https://sport.orf.at/stories/3106051/
  4. Meanwhile we're in the 3rd round. Van Gerwen vs Suljovic, one of the best matches in a long time, especially the second set was one of the best ever sets on TV, insane. Now, 3-1 in sets, 2-2 in legs, and Van Gerwen with 121 for the match, with Suljovic on 161. Van Gerwen: single 20, treble 17....and then a single 18 to leave double 16, instead of going directly for the bulls-eye finish. Basically saying to Suljovic "you are not going to finish this 161". Of course Suljovic then showed a super cool 161 finish to stay in the match
  5. And now that we're on it anyway, is there a better competition schedule than the one on the official website? https://www.lakeplacid2023.com/competition-schedule/
  6. With the Eurosport Player sadly reaching it's final end in two weeks or so, a switch to Discovery+ might finally be unavoidable. Too bad, the Player has such an excellent video player and easy to navigate website (with zero spoilers).
  7. Is there a list of broadcasting rights outside the US? I remember in 2017 things were streamed on FISU's own platform quite a bit, but I don't really remember how easy it was to rewatch things. I'm not going to take holidays for the Universiade so especially combined with the time difference I'll depend on being able to watch it non-live.
  8. Always a fun evening I'm going for Christiansen/Tandrevold as main favourites.
  9. The current Russian Super-Accidentally-Falling-From-Windows-Epidemic has struck again
  10. That post ended better than I feared, good to know she's out of that hellhole..
  11. That's usually not something we do for Christmas (honestly I don't remember ever doing that at Christmas), but coincidentally it is planned for tomorrow at my sister's place I think we do it on average once every 2-3 years or so, maximum
  12. I was planning to make some dinner photos as well, and started out well, enthusiastically making a photo of the carpaccio starter....and then suddenly I realized the dinner was over and I had forgotten to take any other photos
  13. I was listening to that earlier today The entire Mr Hankey Christmas album actually
  14. And in case he's awake already, @Olympian1010's tradition can start as well
  15. Here the cake for tomorrow morning is in the oven (my dad usually makes one with my sister, but she's working these days, so I helped him a little ), after lunch we'll move on to the final parts of tonight's dinner. There's already a whole bowl of meat (deer) marinating in the fridge since yesterday and the smell coming out of the fridge is super promising After lunch (just a regular lunch) we'll prepare that and the side dishes and such for tonight Tomorrow we're at family all day, no idea what the menu will be then. Although afterwards we go eat with my sister and her boyfriend, with one of these sets 26 December is entirely free for us this year, no appointments/obligations or anything
  16. But something about someone who was a superstar when my age was still in the single digits in a sport I've never cared for, or that one about Serena & Venus' dad, both players I've never really been interested in? Not talking bad about it at all by the way, it just doesn't have my interest, I prefer to watch the actual sports
  17. No I'm not generally very interested in sports movies or documentaries, oddly enough
  18. The biggest of all 'end of year traditions' in the Netherlands, the Top 2000 Really happy Roller Coaster pulled off the rare feat of becoming a new mainstay in the top-10 in recent years, fantastic song. On the other hand, much to my disbelief, I realized a song that this year became one of my favourite all-time songs isn't even in the entire list (and only was around position 1000 in the three years it was in the list) I can hardly think of better songs than Family of the Year's Hero. Absolutely beautiful.
  19. Hard to already have a full plan, but the mountainbike World Cup in Valkenburg is definitely on the list (in the spring)
  20. Or a bronze medal being gone and Latvia getting a surprise weightlifting bronze
  21. As always it's a bit of a puzzle who celebrates Christmas on which days (or not at all) on such a diverse online place as Totallympics, but I'm pretty sure nobody celebrates it on 23 December already. Considering it's Friday and for a large portion of people this is probably the last working day before the holidays, it seems like as good a moment as ever to wish everyone Merry Christmas! Whether you celebrate only 24 December at night, only 25 December, 25 and 26 December or any other random combination...have a good time everyone!
  22. I see Emiliano Martinez is still going on with the fake news things about Van Gaal? It's interesting how apparently, somehow media in Argentina came with things like "Van Gaal criticized Di Maria" and "Van Gaal said NED would easily win the penalties" and everyone seems to believe it (When he was actually complimenting Di Maria, despite Di Maria apparently calling him 'his worst coach ever', and he actually said he believed to have an advantage in the penalties because of the preparations, not 'we will easily win it' or something ) Oh well, it's the age of fake news for a reason, and the imagined quotes and such did work to get the players all aggressive. So that tactic worked out well at least
  23. Why are the best not allowed to try and qualify for the Olympics?
