The need to have everything as close together as possible is a large part of what makes it so expensive. When you accept bigger distances, you can much more easily use facilities that already exist and 'only' need some freshening up instead of being built from scratch. Besides, these big distances being a problem depends on the infrastructure. If it's relatively uncomplicated to get from place A to place B by public transport in a couple of hours, I don't see a big problem.

The Olympics being held in a pure wintersports nation. They're not my favourites for 2026 by the way, but I'm getting tired of this "it's all too expensive" crying.

Look, there are like 9 people watching the U18 European championships girls 5000m race walk. If you want to be seen, you have to either get a medal or finish dead-last and be in view of those 3 people who are like "aaw look she tried so hard"

Anyone else find it insanely annoying that IAAF has separate lists for 5000m race walk and 5km race walk? Seriously, what's up with that? Same thing for 10.000m and 10km + 20.000m and 20km.

Ivory Coast has said they won't be able to make the travel, so they're out of the tournament.

A second match has been cancelled today: nobody knows where Ivory Coast's team is, so after rescheduling their match against Montenegro to a later time (in case they'd arrive on a 13:00 flight), it was cancelled as well.
