  1. no, it should be intended "Open Water Swimming"...all disciplines (5, 10 & 25k)...
  2. and once again the Netherlands on top (thanks to our "genius" girls)...I just can't stand orange anymore...now I'm gonna throw away all my clothes with even a small part with that colour... at least we got a bronze medal at the end of the race...
  3. c'mon, mate! now you're starting to make me worry...you can't be so pessimistic...
  4. wow! great, great day for Italy... I didn't really expect this team to beat so easily the Chinese girls... and now let's take some prestigious scalps in the final round...well, maybe here I'm starting to dream the impossible...
  5. don't worry...the hockey season is getting closer and closer...
  6. these European Champs are getting soooo boring...just another Dutch sweep (in the women's individual time trial)...
  7. 3 defensive innings (if not less, in case we score more runs)... c'mon, girls! we can already see the light at the end of the tunnel...
  8. p.s. guys, we have a dedicated thread also to the open water swimming at the european championships...we can use that... http://totallympics.com/index.php?/topic/1125-marathon-swimming-at-the-aquatics-len-european-championships-2018/
  9. there are some posts related to this event in the "regular" swimming thread... it would be nice if you could switch them to this one (which we didn't see earlier)... p.s. I fear our friend @heywoodu is going to party at the end of this women's race...
  10. really stupid tactical mistake by the Italian girls...they allowed Van Rouwendaal and Beck to swim away from the rest of the field since the beginning of the race...and now they can't catch them anymore...
  11. yay! our TV is live from Loch Lomond... p.s. water is 17 degrees (the heavy full bodysuit is mandatory in this case)...
  12. great start for Italy against CHN in the decisive match of their preliminary group... a 2-run HR in the 1st...and then we also saved a complicated situation in the top of the 2nd inning... c'mon, girls! the quarters are just 5 innings away...
  13. Loch Ness is up north (close to the city of Inverness)...
  14. unfortunately the weather conditions are not ideal...water is expected to be only around 13/15 degrees (which means that the swimmers will be allowed to wear the full "heavy" bodysuit)... and this will probably influence also the final results... the swimming marathon thread is dedicated to the world series (with all races over 10k), so this is the right thread for the open water swimming events at the european championships... however, I hope there will be some tv coverage (and for open water swimming my best chance is my "beloved" rai, our public TV )... p.s. by the way, Loch Lomond used to be also the site of the Golf Scottish Open until a few years ago (when they started to use only the socalled "links" kind of courses, meanwhile Loch Lomond is a wonderful "parkland" kind of course)...
  15. and Vicaut is out of the final... that opens the door for him even more...
  16. not only them...with this weather, I wouldn't say no to someone offering them to me...
  17. ops...I was sure you were talking of Crippa, since your post was following @Gianlu33's without a quote... sorry for the misunderstanding...
  18. only because of genetics...his education and his athletic training are 100% Italian (which normally isn't the case with most of those African-born Italians)... I think it's quite different from buying an already formed and established athlete and jus giving him a passport...
  19. disaster for Italy in the Nacra class (and for Tartaglini in the women's RS:X...she just can't cope with the poor wind condition...she absolutely needs a good breeze to pick up...at least Marta Maggetti is still keeping ITA among the Olympic qualifiers)... on the other side, very good day in the men's RS:X...and, above all, the biggest surprise for us is the current 7th place and the Olympic spot earned by Dubbini & Di Salle in the women's 470... p.s. they are the first Italian athletes qualified for Tokyo...now their names will stay in the books (and in the trivia questions) forever...

  21. Abe asks ruling Party to study Daylight Saving Time (and by 2 hours, not just 1) for Tokyo 2020... https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/08/07/national/japan-mulls-daylight-savings-proposal-2020-olympics-report/
  22. troubles understanding sense of humor/sarcasm? but maybe it's my fault...I thought that all those smilieys were just enough to give the right feeling to the post...next time I put even more of those to be sure everybody doesn't miss out on the real meaning...
  23. Torma is also out (DSQ) and Vitovshchyk is almost there, too (she has 2 DSQ proposals already)... I fear this women's 50k RW won't have many girls completing the entire distance... p.s. the official site gives Yatsevich as DNF, not DSQ (Eurosport British commentator instead said she was DSQ)...
  24. sorry, guys...but when I see people asking for cutting events off, my urticaria gets even worse than when I see the word "mixed"... p.s. Yatsevich has been DSQ in the 50k race walking...
