  1. it might be the best solution for everybody (except the trangender athletes, who have their chances to steal global medals dead and gone), after all...
  2. and don't forget the Orlen Cup in Lodz (16.30 CET, live on TVP Sport -needs a VPN from outside POL). highlight of the meet, 100m and 4*100m relay Olympic Champion Marcel Jacobs season's debut (preliminary heat at 17.10 CET, maybe final at 18.35 CET).
  3. nothing, it's only that it's quite famous because of the movie and the tv series (one my favourite, tbh). it would have been strange to know someone actually coming from that city. nothing more than that.
  4. oh, yes...you're right...I mentally exchaged those events (I want to take my heart problems with Sofia away as quick as possible )...
  5. well, 120 kms in the Mountains are a big distance...it can change a lot (altitude is also different...and counts a lot, too)... however, I posted earlier a link to a 14-day forecast (to be taken for what it is) in Courchevel/Meribel (actually, the closest weather station is in Chambery for both places in that region)...
  6. no news...which is great news, actually... however, all the team is supposed to go to France tomorrow (the first race is already on Monday, women's Super-G)...
  7. well, I hope she can recover mentally more than physically from Russian experience... I'd give her some time...it might have been quite scary for her in the last few months...
  8. don't tell me you live in Fargo...
  9. https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/@3023065/ext next week is acceptable, at least we have temperatures below 0 at night (which will allow the organizers to set up the tracks well), the only problems might happen on Monday with the women's Super-G, should it rain before and during the race. the following week instead might be problematic, with high temperatures (nights above 0) that might affect the setup and the overall quality of the tracks. rainy days might also give the organizers some troubles, especially if it happens in the speed events' days.
  10. so, it might be North or South Dakota? (since you said it's close to Minnesota)
  11. Wisconsin?
  12. here in Milan, earlier Today it went up to 15° even at night it doesn't go close to 0 anymore which is good in terms of saving some heating expense, but it's so, so sad in terms of landscape... if it continues like that, by 2026 we're gonna have the Winter Olympic Games with people going to ice arenas with their swimsuits...
  13. I give up! I just came to a conclusion...I will never learn how to manage the Iranian names! I'm just gonna copy & paste the (surely wrong) UWW data... just kidding...you know that I'm always willing to learn, so, thanks for your patience and your valuable explaination by the way, there are some results from Yesterday and Today: Zagreb Open women's Wrestling Champions (Part #1) -50kg: Yui Susaki -55kg: Moe Kiyooka -59kg: Anastasia Nichita -62kg: Sakura Motoki -65kg: Mahiro Yoshitake -68kg: Koumba Selene Fanta Larroque men's Greco-Roman Champions (Part #1) -77kg: Mohammadali Geraei -87kg: Istvan Takacs
  14. very good late addition to Team Italy can't wait...I'm missing top tier Baseball too much...

  17. Cross-Country Skiing World Cup in Dobbiaco/Toblach Today & Tomorrow (Sunday's relays will be a farce). Short Track Speedskating World Cup in Dresden Tomorrow & Sunday the Zagreb Open in Wrestling (running since 2 days ago), the Paris Grand Slam in Judo Tomorrow & Sunday, a full weekend of Fencing with all the weapons involved (Foil GP and Sabre* + Epee regular World Cup stages). *men's Sabre WC is in Warsaw and also, as already written, the Athletics meet in Lodz (with Marcel Jacobs season's debut over 60m dash). this is more or less my menu for the weekend. plus regular team sports action... and I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of other events I don't have time enough to follow
  18. Zagreb Open men's Freestyle Champions -57kg: Aliabbas Rzazade -61kg: Reza Atri -65kg: Tulga Tumur Ochir -70kg: Alec Pantaleo -74kg: Jason Michael Nolf -79kg: Alì Savadkouhi -86kg: Hassan Yazdani -92kg: Kollin Raymond Moore -97kg: Kyle Frederick Snyder -125kg: Amir Hossein Zare
  19. very difficult...all the English-speaking (+ Northern European) World and their accolades will never vote for him (remembering how tough, even unfair they opposed to his father). I still have Sergey Bubka on the hot seat. but I wouldn't be surprised to see an outsider getting the call in the end. I think most of Today's likely, are going to be burnt one way or another before the D-day.
  20. Sofia Goggia had (another) training crash yesterday. apparently, she didn't get injured, but she left the training camp 1 day earlier than scheduled.
  22. easier to see a woman at the White House than being elected as the IOC President...
  23. as of Today, February 1st 2023 in Milan... the most credited Italian Wintersports journalists/commentator, Massimiliano "Max" Ambesi, took a tour of the 2 sites in the city of Milan where the 2 Hockey arenas should be built. here is what he found out and wrote about that. the photos are only about the place where the "small" Hockey arena should be in place in less than 3 years (it's an abandoned area where previously a basketball/volleyball/concerts center then a circus used to be), there are no pictures of the area where the main hall should be built. this is a quick translation (made with google translate...you know, I'm lazy and I didn't want to wast too much time ) of Ambesi's post. "(Earlier) this morning, I went to Lampugnano, a "charming"* Milanese district where one of the ice arenas to host the hockey matches of the upcoming 2026 Olympic Games should be built. The cross-section I came across turned out to be bleak. Rodents and dirt aside, not only has the old structure not yet been demolished, but there is not even the slightest shadow of a construction site. Furthermore, there is no indication on site relating to the Olympic destination of the area, but, from what has been learned, thanks to some shortcomings with respect to the legitimate requests of the IOC, a definitive project has not yet been approved. The only positive note is represented by the proximity to the subway stop and a busy terminus of interregional bus lines. Rather perplexed by what I observed, I set off in the direction of Milan Santa Giulia, hoping that works on the new Palazzo dello Sport with almost twenty thousand seats had already begun. Thanks to lucky coincidences with the various subway lines, the transfer took less than 50 minutes, all in all a positive fact. In this case, despite the fact that the long pedestrian area between the Rogoredo station and the Sports Arena area has been completed for some time now, the foundation stone of the facility is far from being laid yet and, with the exception of the fence of the vast area, the works still appear to be at a standstill. Considering that in 2025, both structures will have to be put to the test with the ritual test competitions, in jargon "test event", time runs the risk of running out, it being understood that, as far as Lampugnano is concerned, ideas appear rather confused. In light of the situation, those in charge will have to be ready as well as educated because, sooner or later, the generalist press will begin to ask a long series of questions and it will be necessary to provide all the necessary explanations. All that remains is to cross your fingers and hope for a happy ending. In the meantime, Turin remains at the window… The invitation is to share the post so that the situation can become public knowledge. Massimiliano Ambesi" *"charming" applied to that district must be intended as pure sarcasm...that area is everything but "charming".
