  1. The Womens 200m Fly is looking very tight and Regan or Summer could win it. Dekkers is always improving and could be under 2.05 by trials as for Steenbergen,I understand she is a favourite for many of the Europeans in the 100m Free and Im sure she will lift for Paris. I think MOC and Haughey will be at another level. Steenbergen may be fighting it out for Bronze between Douglass and the second Australian (Jack,McKeon,Harris or C.Campbell) not sure on the love here for Gretchen Walsh. Sure she was fast doing tumbleturns in a Michigan High School bathtub but still has plenty to prove in a real 50m pool.
  2. and the Womens 200m Free has progressed in the same time from Van Almsicks 1.56.64 to MOC’s 1.52.8.
  3. In 20 years the 100Free WR has progressed one full second from PVH’s 47.8 now at Pan’s 46.8 in 20 years the 200Free hasn’t progressed anywhere and 1.44 low still remains a world leading time. Phelps and Popovic have progressed the time it but as it stands,it remains at 1.44 its about time that 1.44 low is about as common as a 47.8 100m Free Dont get me wrong,I love how competitive the 200m Free remains, but 1.42 high to 1.43 low should be where this race is won.
  4. Its an Olympic year There is a large amount of 1.44 swimmers Its possible that 1.44 wont medal Therefore someone must go 1.43 Someone will pop I really dont know who but this event has been stagnent for way too long
  5. The 200m Free is stacked with so many contenders at 1.44 it’s nearly impossible to pick. ignoring Popovici, 1.43 low will probably win it. its crazy that Thorpe was doing 1.44.0, 20 years ago
  6. Im not writing anyone off,as swimmers that are not on this list will win Olympic Gold Medals That could be Wiffan As for the 4 x 100m Relay,as an Australian,we also have 3 x47s and a 48.0 (Chalmers,Southam,Cartwright and Taylor) also noting that Chalmers is an absolute weapon on anchor,BUT,USA will have too much depth even without Dressel (Alexy especially)
  7. I think it would be bold to put Wiffen ahead of Hafanoui ,Short or Finke. They are up 3 seconds faster in the 800m and generally don't bother with Short course. Wiffen's time to win the Worlds this year would not have earned a medal in 2023 when everyone else swam. Peaty could be the deal breaker for the mens medley relay, but China look way too strong. I cant see Britain medaling in the mixed relay with of without Peaty As for Men's 4x100m Free, the USA are looking real good and I would expect 3-4 swimmers in low 47s by trials including Dressel, who will be even faster by Paris. The USA should win it easily.
  8. My apologies! Kos is not Dutch! Now edited on my original post!
  9. Anything apart from No1 will be a failure for the USA
  10. Could be a risk not peaking at trials and holding that taper until Paris. But then again, I do not see any 3rd Australian challenging, therefore Short could still go 3.45 and still take the second spot. As for the Women's 100M Free at the trials, they all need to be at their peak!
  11. Which events would the US likely win that I haven't listed? Maybe Dressel could back to form but that's a huge IF,based on his situation over the past 3 years Regan Smith maybe, but Kaylee doesn't show any signs of losing to anyone. Summer will take "normal" US Golds as will Marchand. Could be tough for the US
  12. Actually,I think you are right Peaty is the best chance for GB and Qin could burst or bust.
  13. USA ALWAYS rise up for the Olympics, but I think its clear that both Australia and China will challenge them. If China flop, then the USA will no doubt take full advantage especially on the Men's side.
  14. Aa I mentioned,it will change over the next few months.Only GB have had their trials and plenty of swimming to be done before Paris. For the 200M IM, Marchand Wang Casas have all been quicker over the past 18 months that Duncan Scott's best 200IM time. Thats why he is just off my list. As for the 200m Free, If Popovici gets anywhere near the levels we know he can,no one will beat him He still 19? The 200m Free is easily the Brits best chance for an individual win, but there is so many current swimmers in the 1.44 range now 1.44s Dean Scott Richards Hwang Pan Martans Guilliani Hobson.
  15. Great swim by Martens! in fact, there is no doubt I will be amending over the next 2 months Trials, especially Australia and US will be huge. Short and Hafnaoui also went 3.40 last year. I have no doubt the Beiderman WR is going this year. maybe at Australian trials first?

  17. Its not unusual to see fast swims out of season.Kaylee McKeown can break a WR no matter what time or season.
  18. A little early to read to much into those results Nothing fast but its January within an Olympic year,so that’s expected. Alexy looks good but with Pan,Chalmers and Popovici,he is up against it. Douglass is easy the best 100m Free swimmer in the US and a low 53 is a good swim Will need to be high 51s to challenge for a medal in Paris As i said earlier, bring on the trials!
  19. Looking more forward towards the Australian Olympic Trials in June than the “ World Championships” Most likely,it will be the worst World Champs in history
  20. Penny scratching again. no surprise
  21. Mollie O’Callaghan will be the biggest swimming star in Paris 100m Freestyle in a WR time 200m Freestyle in a WR time 4x100m Free Relay (WR) 4x200m Free Relay. (WR)
  22. Australia (12 G/14 S/20 B/46 T) Gold: Rugby Sevens- Men’s Tournament, Swimming- Men’s 400m Freestyle (Sam Short), Swimming- Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay, Swimming- Women’s 200m Freestyle (Ariarne Titmus), Rugby Sevens- Women’s Tournament, Swimming- Women’s 100m Backstroke (Kaylee McKeown), Swimming- Women’s 100m Freestyle (Mollie O’Callaghan), Swimming- Women’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay, Cycling- Women’s BMX Racing (Saya Sakakibara), Swimming- Women’s 200m Backstroke (Kaylee McKeown), Athletics- Women’s High Jump (Nicola Olyslagers), Canoe Slalom- Women’s Kayak Cross (Jessica Fox), Sailing- Men’s ICLA7 (Matthew Wearn), Skateboarding- Men’s Park (Keegan Palmer) Not a bad list but isnt that 14G?
  23. Not bad, although I really see the Australian women dominating. MOC wont be beaten in the 100m Free with only Haughey pushing her Titmus will beat McIntosh in the 400m Free Regan Smith wont beat McKeown in the 100 Back but she may win the 200m Fly Trials in 2024 will offer a better insight USA could struggle as apart from Ledecky, there are no other heavy favourites
  24. Could be an improved games for Australia 10-12 golds, but could be more if the swimming team raise their game
