  1. I wasnt aware of Storm Hunters injury oh,well, there goes my outside chance of a doubles medal
  2. SOPAC is nearly 30 years old but its still a fantastic pool. it was designed based on those parameters from that article. Definitely wouldve been a better option than Chandler.
  3. Surfing Sally Fitzgibbons on standby for Tyler Wright https://www.nine.com.au/sport/olympics/paris-2024-surfing-tyler-wright-sally-fitzgibbons-ryan-callinan-20240627-p5jpe2.html
  4. Nice explanation here https://www.physioinqmcmahonspoint.com.au/blog/swimming-pool-technology-fast-pools-v-slow-pools#:~:text=First of all%2C a fast, resistance that slows swimmers down. Chandler Pool is an old pool that does have depth changes. its not ideal and shouldnt be used where every 100 of a second mattered in qualifying
  5. Most of the men at trials didn't seem rested enough. Temple only recently went 50 low and there is no reason he cannot replicate in Paris. The double taper with Trials/Worlds/Olympics has been in place since 2019 and it seems like it has worked in Australia's favour. Ive got no doubt that Australia will step up again in Paris! I just hope Europe and Asia do as well to keep the Americans at bay
  6. Our mixed medley team looks strong and on times, its very close to US Kaylee Sam Temple MOC If MOC is in touch when she jumps in,its game on.
  7. Based on my predictions for Swimming,Ive got the US at 8 Gold. W 100m Backstroke -Regan Smith. This is 50/50 and could well go to Kaylee.Ive only got Smith ahead as she just broke the WR M 100m Butterfly -Caeleb Dressel Dressel for the Gold, but this event is stacked with 5-6 guys around the same time. W 800m Butterfly -Gretchen Walsh This one is solid for the USA who could easily go 1-2 W 800m/1500m Freestyle Katie Ledecky -Nothing more to be said M 1500m Freestyle -Bobby Finke Without Hafanoui ,Finke is the favourite here M 4x 100m Freestyle USA will take down the WR here.Heavy favourites W 4 x 100m Medley Relay USA Women's have 3 of the WR holders in this (Smith,King and Walsh) USA Men's Breastroke is currently worse than Australia and they will likely struggle against the Chinese in the Medley Relay GB look too good for Mens 4 x 200m Free relay.
  8. Australia Medal Predictions plus outside medal contenders. I've taken into account recent performances including World Championships, Olympic trials etc. Its the Olympics and it will be a case of win some and lose some, but hopefully the average will end up around my estimation. 9. We probably should leave this thread to News and Selections only Time for a Medal Predictions thread
  10. No doubt that we need some of the Chinese and Euros to beat the US Swimmers. That is also the same with Australia, such as the Mens 400m Free and Womens sprints (50 and 100m Free) As for Pan beating Dressel, that wont happen as Dressel failed to qualify for the 100m Free.Although Jack Alexy came through with a 47.0,I dont see anyone challenging Pan or Popovici for 100m title. I'm confident with Kaylee, despite Regan Smith breaking her record in the 100m Back.Smith has had a stack of opportunities to break it this year and finally does it with 20,000 people behind her. Kaylee hasnt raced all that much and has her own plans to swim under 57 sec. Come Olympics, watch out for Kaylee who is a big time performer
  11. I might be a little conservative, but it is the Olympics. Heartbreak will happen! Jess Fox could win all 3 in Slalom, but I put one gold as for Rowing, the Mens 8 have gone all out .Ive picked them to win. Surfing should be Gold, but conservatively,Ive got Ethan Irvin for Bronze Ive got no idea on 3x3 basketball,so you got me interested. Swimming is my main interest. 10 is very possible but could be more or less! Its probably our only chance ever to defeat the US tally.

  13. Wouldve loved to see Summer contest the 800m Free in Paris. Age will eventually catch up with Ledecky Based on what I saw,Summer wouldve had a huge chance of a monumental upset. Oh well…maybe Ariane could cause an upset in the 800
  14. Just 1 week ago, they destroyed the current WR,which only recently was Pellegrini's 15 year old untouchable time. No one else is close McIntosh is capable but unlikely even to swim the 200 Free Both Australians wont medal? Your comment is beyond ridiculous
  15. So Titmus and Mollie O will BOTH not medal in the 200m Free? ok Summer wont medal in the 400IM Ledecky will miss the final of the 800 and 1500 Australia will get beaten by Team GB in the Womens 4 x100m Relay
  16. Cam McEvoy in the 100m Free i would think he puts up a time for the 4x100m Relay Mollie O in the 100m Back and breaks 58 seconds Kaylee in the 200m Free Again, thinking about the relay
  17. Fairweather may sneak a medal in the 400m Free but she is up it against Titmus,Ledecky and McIntosh. She beat McIntosh for 3rd back in 2023 and it could happen again. If not, then McIntosh will be challenging Titmus and Ledecky with Fairweather in 4th/5th For the 200m Freestyle, I think her chances pretty slim I am not sure how she will be ahead of Mollie O'Callaghan Ariane Titmus Siobhon Haughey Summer McIntosh (if she decides to race it) There will be two Americans around 1.55 or lower. It will need a 1.53 Mid or lower to medal and Fairweather's best is 1.55.4 As for Clareburt, No one is beating Leon Marchand. Carson Forster (USA) has been 4.06 Clareburt may fight for Bronze with the 2nd American, Litchfield and both Japanese qualifiers
  18. 2.04 looks like the cutoff for a medal in Paris for the 200 Fly Summer and Regan Smith lead the way Zhang Yufei has been 2.03 although not since Tokyo and it would not surprise if Dekkers hits 2.04 by Australian trials.
  19. I agree about MOC. She swum that 58.0 in pouring rain hitting the ropes all the way. The W100m back seems to be dominated by AUS,USA and a Canadian over the past 2-3 years its possible that 58 low wont even make an Australian or US Olympic team
  20. Great time by Anderson! Depth in W 100m Back is looking great for Australia It isnt just the Kaylee show and 2nd spot at the trials will be exciting MOC - 58.0 Will she swim it? Seebohm - 58.2 Shes back? Anderson -58.5 Barclay -59.2 Still a junior swimmer Fredericks -59.6 And will Minna Atherton be back?
  21. For the 200m Free,Canada have a 1.53 swimmer (McIntosh) and now another 1.55 low swimmer with an additional 2 x 1.57 swimmers. Canada are easily ahead of GB who are a clear 5th.
  22. Overall, congratulations to Team GB for topping the medal tally and destroying both the USA and China Actually,I dont really know a huge amount about Equestrian and Judo, but all the very best anyways! Swimming though, I'll bite and pick it apart! "..I think both men's Freestyle relays can win.. " 4 x100m Free -Mens The USA are stacked. They have 10 current swimmers under 48 seconds, with 4 swimmers under 47.5 GB have Richards at 47.45 and another 2 under 48 seconds, plus Whittle at 48.0 GB will be fighting China and Australia for the minor medals 4 x 200m Free -Mens Agreed! Team GB will head in Paris as heavy favourites for Gold in the 4 x200m Free "......another Gold can come from. Men's 100m Breast,50m Free, 200m Free and 200m IM...." Mens 100m Breastroke. If Peaty is any where near his best, he will win. Qin is currently at 57.6,which Peaty hasnt been there since 2021,but no doubt the recent British trials has indicated he is getting back. Mens 50m Free Already discussed, but McEvoy is the fastest this year and the fastest last year. Only a peak Caleb Dressel has been 0.02 quicker back in 2019 The US and Australian trials will sort this pecking order out very quickly. Mens 200m Free Popovic and now Martens are quicker than the British Record. There is a stack of swimmers sitting at 1.44 and could be the closest race at Paris. Possible that GB could win Gold and possible that may not even medal. Mens 200 IM Who is going to beat Marchand in Paris? Wang is still good and the Americans (Casais and even Michael Andrew) have all been quicker than Dean or Scott. "......Other medal chances include Men's Medley, 100m Back, 400m IM, Women's 400m IM and 4x200m Free...." Men's Medley Depends on Peaty but Bronze is possible.China and USA will fight this out. 100m Back Not sure if you meant /men or Women here but Womens -Dawson will be in a battle for Bronze with Kaylee and Regan expected to dominate. Even Bronze will be tough. The US trials for that second spot will be a blood bath and even MOC swam 58.0 in Australia last week for laughs. Mens: Oliver Morgans 52.70 could get him into the final but I cant see a medal. Mens 400m IM With Marchand,Kalaiz,Foster and Clareburt,I'm not sure that GB will be challenging here for any medal. Womens 400m IM Same as the Men.There is a stack of current swimmers well ahead of the British record McIntosh is untouchable.Katie Grimes has been 4.32 recently as has Jenn Forrester of Australia. Kaylee just swum 4.28 but likely not to swim it in Paris! Womens 4 x 200m Free Australia, USA and China by a long way! Not sure how GB will even consider a medal here.
  23. I'm not a rowing fan,but looking at the 2023 Worlds where GB won 6 gold medals,it seems to include 2 Golds for Para Rowing?
