  2. Mollie O’Callaghan will be the biggest swimming star in Paris 100m Freestyle in a WR time 200m Freestyle in a WR time 4x100m Free Relay (WR) 4x200m Free Relay. (WR)
  3. 4. Not bad, although I really see the Australian women dominating. MOC wont be beaten in the 100m Free with only Haughey pushing her Titmus will beat McIntosh in the 400m Free Regan Smith wont beat McKeown in the 100 Back but she may win the 200m Fly Trials in 2024 will offer a better insight USA could struggle as apart from Ledecky, there are no other heavy favourites
  5. Could be an improved games for Australia 10-12 golds, but could be more if the swimming team raise their game
  6. Australia are the second most successful Swimming nation in Olympic History, only behind the US. Ive heard this comment a few times and many bring up James Magnussen as the example. Considering he is twice World Champion at the 100m Free and lost the Olympic Gold by 0.01 of a second,I think he has been harshly treated. In saying that,he put the pressure on himself and destroyed his Olympic campaign by a poor relay swim. Yes,there are some serial tourists with Australian team(David McKeon) who continue to frustrate, but overall,we have exceeded expectations at most Olympics. As I said before, our only hope in 2012.misfired and basically ended 2/3 of our only hopes. Go beyond 2012,and you will see many examples of peaking at the right times( Stephanie Rice,Jodie Henry,Ian Thorpe,Grant Hackett, etc etc) 2012 toxic culture is long behind us,and now we have Jacco Verhaeren to keep them in check
  7. Im always intereted to see the prospects of our cross Tasman neighbours. The traditional sports the NZ excel in seem to be their brightest chances Rowing Canoeing Sailing and of course,Rugby. 10 Gold medals may not be out of the Question! (as long as Australia gets 11+
  8. Yep,the Americans always perform at the Olympics, but there was something lacking from their trials that I havent seen in a long time.(I watched their trials on NBC) Sure, they have Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps, but they drop off dramatically after those two.In most Olympic years you could almost guarantee their top 2 qualifyers would be top 5 rankings. There is a lot of gaps and the Americans will need to swim out of their skin to cover the obvious weaknesses. They will probably do it and prove me wrong, but there is no doubt they are starting further back in the field that I can remember.
  9. In 2012, Australia entered London with only 3 real chances in the pool. 100m Free (M) 4 x 100m Free (M) 4 x 100m Free (W) The Missile misfired and our only Mens hopes were done. The women came home with the relay gold. So much more depth in 2016 Our World Championships results from 2015 were far more successful than 2011. So many more performers. Cate Campbell is currently the best female swimmer in the World. She is in line for 4 Gold Medals alone and will start favourite in both the 50m and 100m free. yep,its the Olympics and there will be disappointments, but there is something very exciting about this team. Could this be the Olympics where the US are taken down?
  10. Gold Medal Chances in 50m Free (M) 100m Free (M) 400m Free (M) 1500m Free (M) 100m Back (M) 200m Back (M) 4x100m Free (M) 50m Free (W) 100m Free (W) 100 Back (W) 200 Back (W) 200m Butterfly (W) 4x100m Free (W) 4x100m Med (W) Strong medal contenders in 200m Free (M) 4x200m Free (M) 4x100m Med (M) 200m Free (W) 400m Free (W) 800m Free (W) 100m Butterfly (W) 200m Breastroke (W) 4x200m Freestyle (W) But far, the strongest Australian swim team since 2004.
  11. Discuss all things Olympic related to the Australian Dolphins!
