  1. This is a matter of opinion. I watched the women's artistic gymnastics all-around final with ESPN commentary and after Kara Eaker fell on beam and floor, the commentator basically said "oh, they are just training here, no worries". If they win, so everything is easy and the competition is boring, but if they lose the competition is not important and they are just training. Typical. Besides, Canada is not nearly as dominant as the US, even with their A teams. The same is true at the Olympics. Their recent performances at the Summer Olympics are on par with Brazil, Argentina and even Colombia. I mean, these countries are not so far away from Canada, and Canada is not even close to the US there.
  2. You haven't watched artistic gymnastics, have you?. Even though the US sent the best girls (except for Simone Biles) and dominated the team competition, the event finals were unpredictable and the US was not even close to a full sweep like we all expected before the Games. The men's competition was extremely surprising, with US not earning any gold medals. Even Brazil lost the most expected medal this edition, gold on rings with Zanetti. I understand that the Pan Ams might not be very exciting for people from Europe and Asia, but it's not like I feel excited about the Asian Games either (China doesn't send their best athletes either and still they are unbeatable). I don't see any point in your criticism. If India competed at the Pan Ams, I could bet all my money they would be trailing off behind Argentina at this point, so why complain about the quality of the event?
  3. So, Jason Burnett, the favorite for the gold medal, didn't qualify for the final. Crazy.
  4. I ignore posts from bestmen and OlympicsFan, so I almost forgot how fun it is to read troll posts sometimes.
  5. The link actually leads to the results page. This link leads to the entry list in each event: https://wrsd.lima2019.pe/PAG2019/en/results/swimming/sport-entries.htm
  6. Yes. I don't get how the scoring system works. I know the judges are free to score the dives, but some attempts were absolutely terrible and still got 7 and 8 marks. How is this possible? I've tried to enjoy diving all my life, but the Pan Ams always show how insane this sport is in terms of scoring. I'll stick with gymnastics.
  7. Nice work, Mexico! Congratulations! Cuba for the first time ever didn't earn a medal in the group all-around event, so Brazil remains now the only nation to win a medal in this event in every edition of the Pan Am Games.
  8. There is an extra hoop inside the area. The judges will count 6 apparatus inside the area. I believe we will not even win a medal now.
  9. And Diaz made it to the ribbon final!
  10. Domingos can win one on ribbon. I'm really upset with this result, though. This makes absolutely no sense.
  11. According to our commentator, they take the highest execution score average. Gaudio is 0.050 ahead of Domingos in execution. I should be happy with a medal, but I'm kind of sad. I don't feel that the best gymnast took bronze.
  12. Nooooo! Natalia Gaudio wins according to the tie breaking system, but I believe Barbara deserved the medal more than Nartalia. Nooooo.
  13. Feeley is very techical, but expressionless. Clean, competent, but there's just something missing. Still, great performances overall and she did what she had to do to earn a medal here. Now the pressure is on Griskenas.
  14. Yup. I remember this. She literally threw out her ribbon (and the Olympic quota) on her last move. Let's see if Garcia beats Domingos. Hard score to beat, but Garcia is talented.
  15. I can't believe Uchida lost the ribbon. What is it with Canadians choking when they have the chance to win a medal in rhythmic gymnastics?
  16. I'm rooting for Paraguay. Bolivia has other chances in Racquetball, but Paraguay probably has no other chance.
  17. Brazil says no.
  18. A medal in diving! Color me surprised!
  19. The only routines I could find from him are from 2017. He's not half bad. Definitely he has a big potential, and I hope he does well here.
  20. I'm surprised Espinoza still competes. She's, like, way past 30 now, isn't she?
  21. What's his name? NCAA is very different from elite gymnastics. It's nice for him to train with good coaches and good equipment, but I'm not sure his routines would be tailored for elite gymnastics (although the level of the competition is probably not that great).
  22. Thanks. I hope no one upsets Bolivia because I want them to win their first Pan American gold medal.
  23. Wait, isn't Bolivia the favorite for gold medals in racquetball? Basque pelota, squash and racquetball are sports I completely ignore, but I remember Bolivia has a world champion in racquetball, so now I'm curious.
  24. About the quality of the gymnasts? Egypt has an exceptional gymnast on rings (Ali Zahran), Morocco has a great vaulter (Hamza Hossaini), but everybody else still has a long way to go.
  25. Brazil filed an inquiry and the score for the group was revised. 23.650 for Brazil and 23.525 for Mexico. Things are going to be crazy tomorrow.
